Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Sciadipersia is a Maserati GranTurismo in another Italian suit

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera is back on the spotlight with its latest bespoke creation – the new Superleggera Sciadipersia. Set to be unveiled at 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the new Superleggera Sciadipersia coupe is set to light up the flare of excitement anew a few years after it launched the Disco Volante Spyder.

Essentially, the new Superleggera Sciadipersia is a conversion model that practically hides an appealing Maserati GranTurismo in Touring Superleggera-created clothing. The mechanicals are pretty much Maserati, but the exterior has been comprehensively revised, to the point that the Sciadipersia is hardly recognizable as one. Inside, the Sciadipersia is virtually identical to the Maserati GranTurismo, although some upgrades were implemented.

To create the new Superleggera Sciadipersia, potential customers have first to supply a Maserati GranTurismo to Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera before any kind of conversion is started. However, interested customers need to act fast since Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera will only do up to 10 conversions of the Superleggera Sciadipersia.

In the conversion process, Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera will be stripping the Maserati GranTurismo of its body panels and replacing them with its own metal work. Up front, the Superleggera Sciadipersia four-door coupe is marked by an elongated bonnet plunging towards a very narrow grille that features ventilations. This grille is flanked by small circular headlamps as surrounded by chrome detailing. The circular headlamps are seemingly connected by a chrome horizontal strip.

In addition, the new Superleggera Sciadipersia is given custom fenders, stunning pillars with bright and a distinctive greenhouse, as well as a new rear window, a custom rear fascia and a bespoke trunk. The exterior of the new Sciadipersia is wrapped in the so-called "Orient Night Blue," a shade designed to evoke a clear night sky.

Inside, the Superleggera Sciadipersia pretty much feels and looks the same as the Maserati GranTurismo, featuring the conventional Maserati design and layout. However, the Sciadipersia is provided with new seats wrapped in the finest Italian leather. The dashboard and other parts of the interior of the new Sciadipersia are trimmed in brushed aluminum. Moreover, the 10 lucky customers will be gifted with a set of customized Foglizzo luggage in its 260-liter boot.

Since the mechanicals have been retained, this means that the powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine, electronics and other performance specs of the Superleggera Sciadipersia are the same as the Maserati GranTurismo. Around 455 bhp of max output and 520Nm of peak torque are sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox or conventional six-speed automatic transmission. With a weight of 1,700 kg (3,748 lbs), the Sciadipersia could sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 km/) in just 2.7 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h).

The conversion of Maserati GranTurismo to a Superleggera Sciadipersia takes around six months. It should also be noted that Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera is offering a guarantee of two years.
