Bentley Motors has finally unveiled in metal a more hardcore version of its Bentayga sports utility vehicle at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Welcome the new Bentley Bentayga Speed, which is not only the fastest production SUV in the United Kingdom, but also in the world, as the British auto maker claims.

According to Bentley, the new Bentayga Speed is the most powerful and performance-oriented Bentayga so far, building on the carmaker’s tradition of creating Speed models since 2007 (Continental GT).

It could be remembered that the Bentayga managed to set a new record for production SUVs at the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Now, Bentley is evolving the Bentayga to a more performance-oriented SUV by installing a much improved version of the carmaker’s renowned 6.0-liter W12 engine. In its application in the Bentayga Speed, this W12 engine is tuned to deliver up to 635 PS (626 bhp) of output and up to 900 Nm (664 lb.-ft.) of torque.

With this powerful engine under its hood, the new Bentayga Speed can sprint from nil to 100 km/h )zero to 62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds, and onto a top speed of 306 km/h (190 mph). At this top speed, the Bentayga Speed can boasts of being the fastest SUV there is to date.

With power sent to all wheel, the Bentley Bentayga Speed comes equipped with Electronic Differential Lock and is offered with up to eight Drive Dynamics modes. As for stopping power, the new Bentayga Speed is fitted with ceramic brakes that can provide up to 6,000 Nm of braking torque. Being ceramic brakes, they can endure heat of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius. They are also lighter by 20 kg over their iron counterparts.

Of course, there is a need to differentiate the Bentayga Speed from a typical Bentayga. The new Bentayga Speed boasts of an appearance that expresses its levels of performance. For instance, the new Bentayga Speed is marked by dark-tint headlights, dark-tint radiator and bumper grilles as well as a striking tailgate spoiler and body-colored side skirts. It also features Speed signature badging. Furthermore, the Bentayga Speed comes riding on distinct 22-inch wheel design available in three finishes.

Meanwhile, the cabin of the new Bentley Bentayga Speed continues the design theme of the exterior. For the first time, the Bentayga employs Alcantara materials. It also features new contrast stitching on the diamond quilting, discreet Speed badging as well as a Speed illuminated treadplate signature. Moreover, the Bentayga Speed boasts of a new color split interior that highlights distinct styling lines.

Optional equipment includes carbon fiber fascia panels, carbon ceramic brakes, 22-way adjustable front seats with massage function, Bentley rear-seat entertainment (RSE) as well as mood lighting.
