Fiat unveils Concept Centoventi to celebrate its 120th anniversary

Fiat celebrates its 120th anniversary at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show by unveiling a special concept car that expresses its bold, democratic future vision as derived from its rich history and extensive experience. This new concept car -- dubbed as the new Fiat Concept Centoventi – serves as a perfect expression of how Fiat views electric mass mobility in the near future.

The new Fiat Concept Centoventi is aptly named as such as “centoventi” actually means “120” in Italian. According to Fiat, naming the electric concept car as Centoventi reveals its destination to break away from the past and push beyond. In addition, Fiat said that the Concept Centoventi projects the Italian brand into the future by become “ABC of cars. Affordable But Cool."

Being a democratized car, the Fiat Concept Centoventi offers great freedom to customize. This is evident on the fact that not only its exterior and interior are customizable but also its electrical power source. Fiat is offering a set of modular batteries. As standard, the Centoventi comes out of the factory with one battery that delivers a range of 100 km. If a customer needs to travel a longer distance, he or she may opt to install another battery to give the Centoventi a total range of 200 km.

A customer can purchase or rent and install up to three additional batteries – each providing a range of 100 km -- on the Fiat Concept Centoventi, as fitted underneath the floor by the service network. This doesn’t mean that the range is limited to just 400 km, as the Centoventi could go as far as 500 km when an additional battery is mounted under the seat.

But since roll center is exactly midway between the two axle shafts, and the batteries are place below the Concept Centoventi’s center of gravity, the electric car's weight distribution and handling remains the same regardless the number of batteries installed.

While the Fiat Concept Centoventi will produced in just one livery, it is essentially a "blank canvas" ready to be customized according to the preferences of the customer. The car can be customized through the "4U" program, with a choice of four external wrappings, four roofs, four bumpers and four wheel covers.

As conceptualized, the Centoventi can be updated without buying a new one. A customer can change its exterior color, interior theme, roof configuration, infotainment system as well as battery range any time he or she wants. In fact at launch, Fiat will be offering 120 additional accessories to allow customers to further personalize their cars.

Six features -- livery, bumpers, polycarbonate roof, batteries, Lingotto instrument cluster, batteries and digital tailgate – can only be installed at dealerships. The remaining 114 accessories -- such as sound system, dashboard and seat cushions -- can be purchased on-line and fitted by the customer without going to a dealership.
