Hamann Motorsport has decided to make a customization package for the Roadster version of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Dubbed the Hamann Hawk Roadster, this vehicle gets a powerful engine, a unique body design, and a matte-red lacquer finish. It boasts a stunning look as well as a sound that’s soothing to the ears.
It comes with aerodynamic parts that reduce the upthrust, stainless-steel exhaust systems with a sporty sound, remarkable 21-inch light-metal rims and deluxe interior revisions to enhance the individuality of this series vehicle. The stock SLS already offers an outstanding engine output but Hamann has added power reserves to this V8 engine.
Its engine also has been given a high-performance exhaust system made of stainless steel. With the help of a sports air filter, this system generates an earthy and strong sound from its 6.2 litre aggregate. Its parts were subjected to precise adjustments with the aid of a new engine characteristic map for motor electronics.
It has a top performance of 636 hp / 468 kW and comes with a maximum torque of 680 Nm at 4,850 r.p.m. First-class specifications are found in this performance enhanced wing door automobile.
When in race start mode, the two-seater can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and could reach a top speed of 320 km/h. The Hamann Hawk Roadster also exceeds the basis model. This model offers an outstanding driving performance but this is matched with a terrific appearance and aerodynamics that were tested in the wind tunnel. The serial bumper is replaced by the Hamann Hawk Roadster front apron.
Because of its shape, the uplifting forces at the front axle are reduced. The two- seater has an even more dynamic look with its bigger air inlets in connection with a new LED lights unit. Furthermore, the bigger air inlets give improved access for the engine's raised need for fresh air. As a result, the air is drawn out of new bonnet built from checkered flag carbon.
Its wing measures 60mm on each front side and 70mm on each rear side, making its look more striking. Its side skirts allow the convertible to be lower and more extended and underline the rims. Its new rear apron with the diffuser improves the air flow under the bottom of the car and offers room for four huge end pipes that measure 90 mm each in diameter.
Hamann makes use of the single-part, particularly light forged wheels "Unique Forged Anodized" in 21 inches, to have perfect comfort and control. The coilover kit was specifically refined for the Hamann Hawk Roadster. With the four height-adjustable dampers and four progressively wound springs, its center of gravity could be dropped by as much as 30 millimetres.

Helping with this impression are the large wheels, wide track, and of course, the long wheelbase. One interesting thing about the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is that even if the overhangs are short, it works well with the design and the proportions.
The same is true with how the front-mid low-slung engine has been placed towards the rear. Then there is the dual-clutch transmission that has the transaxle set-up. However, the main highlight when it comes to style would have to be the gullwing doors. This is what heightens the attractiveness of the SLS AMG and makes it stand out in the segment. Indeed, the gullwing doors bring to mind the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. However it is not limited to this particular style as there is also the well-known radiator grille that is not just wide but sports the Mercedes star.
Meanwhile there is also the wing-shaped cross fins that reference the sports car legend’s front section. The way the front end has been sculptured and its three-dimensional look combined with the front apron that is set low and swept back to the sides result in giving the gullwings that powerful road stance.
Dominating the front-end are the six cooling air intakes and the headlamps that are not only set to the outside but are vertically placed. This combination gives the SLS AMG that enticing ambiance. Meanwhile the low-beam bi-xenon central headlamp has a metallic wing section and is bordered above by a pair of LED indicators with bottom having the daytime driving lights in LED.
The new SLS AMG from Mercedes-Benz is not a simple derivation of the 300 SL but it also shows how aircraft construction has been an influence. This can be seen with the Mercedes star. It is easy to see that the tubular section is based on a jet engine’s air intake, especially when looked at from the side. The same is true for the vehicle’s long bonnet wherein as the onlooker focuses more on it, the curves become clearer.
Then there is the way the four fins have been designed with a Silver Shadow finish. By serving as an accent for the pair of air outlet grilles that have been placed on the bonnet’s end, it gets the same impression as that of the bonnet itself. By having the same lines one typically sees on an aircraft, it helps visually accelerate the air that goes through the SLS AMG. As a result, it makes this model look dynamic even if it is merely at a standstill.
