James (Jim) Glickenhaus is developing the SCG003 concept – an entirely new car with a particular chassis and a V6TT engine – with an aim of unveiling it at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 and fielding it to the SPX Class in the VLM/24H Nürburgring Championship the same year.
GranStudio has commenced the design work of the SCG003 concept, with a goal of using a full carbon fiber chassis that will set new standards in terms of stiffness and lightness.
The design brief is centered on building a vehicle that boasts of an outstanding aerodynamic performance, an innovative look and an iconic design. Goran Popovic from GranStudio has been working on the SCG003 concept since July 2013, with Jim Glickenhaus picking the final design between the two final proposals selected in September.
The team is now working to freeze the mechanical packaging within the end of January 2014, and commence the car build in the first quarter. Paolo Catone, a race engineer with extensive experience with F1 and Sport Prototypes, will back up the team to the Aerodynamic development.
The SCG003 poses a new great challenge for Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus following the P4/5C M victory in the 2011 EX-P1 Class. "Now that I have seen the final design, the chassis and the mechanical development, I am very excited and happy that we will be exploring new ideas, bringing LMP1 design to GT cars," Glickenhaus remarked.
