The Renegade Hard Steel Jeep will be unveiled at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show. A product of style, off-road vocation, and technology, the Renegade Hard Steel Jeep was created by the Jeep brand in collaboration with the Mopar brand, with support from the FCA Style Centre. This showcar "explores" the potential of a model that offers countless customization options while giving a glimpse of possible Mopar accessories for the new Renegade.
This vehicle is derived from the Trailhawk and is not just a product of customisation in aftermarket. Rather, the Renegade Hard Steel Jeep is a design project that is considered as “a unique and fascinating article.” The showcar features a Brushed Steel livery, a bodywork treatment evoking aviation and marine technology.
It is further enhanced by a matte black colour contrast on the grid, roof bars, mirror covers, 16" alloy wheels, side rubbing strips, bonnet air vents, fenders and bumpers. This customization is continued inside the showcar; the Brushed Steel treatment can be found on the air conditioning vents, gearbox, glove compartment and audio speakers.
Light grey tone stitching can be found on the seats, the door panels, with the Trailhawk logo embroidered on the headrests. The Renegade Hard Steel upholstery is covered in Frau Century lead-coloured leather, designed to celebrate the brand's 1912 centenary. The Renegade Hard Steel showcar features larger BF Goodrich All Terrain tires, raised suspension, skid plate engraved with "Trailhawk" and bonnet performance.
It also features original accessories like a Mopar grille and opaque black mirror covers, black running board, floor mats and towbar. The towbar connected to the trailer incorporating the vehicle "vitamin-enriched" design. It becomes an "internet hotspot" thanks to the Wi-Fi developed by Mopar.
The showcar also boasts of a touchscreen display lade with the Uconnect LIVE system that allows access to Internet music (Deezer), Internet radio (TuneIn), news (Reuters), real time traffic (Tom Tom LIVE), and social network (Facebook and Twitter).
Jeep designed the new Renegade to deliver a great combination of Jeep styling and open-air freedom as well as the efficiency and compact nature of small SUVs. Its boxy proportions and purposeful design are just a prelude to a high quality interior that makes use of superior materials, useful features as well as practical storage.
Designers at Jeep aimed right at the very start to give the Renegade a class-leading off-road capability trapped in city-sized proportions, with an appearance that conveys versatility, ruggedness and functionality. They also aimed to deliver a new Renegade that brings American design and ingenuity – as created by Jeep -- into the small SUV segment in over 100 global markets. Designers also aimed to create a new Renegade that could provide its youthful and adventure-ready customers with world-class levels of craftsmanship and efficiency as well as the open-air freedom of the Jeep Wrangler.
The new Jeep Renegade essentially builds on qualities of the legendary Wrangler, like its rugged body forms, powerful stance and aggressive proportions. The new Renegade also tries to replicate the Wrangler’s class-leading approach and departure angles.
Indeed, the new Renegade is unmistakably a true Jeep, thanks to a number of design elements typical of the brand. These include the signature seven-slot grille and large circular headlamps. The new Jeep Renegade also features an aerodynamically tuned two-piece front fascia with a body-colored upper section and molded-in-color lower area.
Meanwhile, the ruggedness of the flanks of the new Renegade is achieved through elements like trapezoidal wheel arches, short overhangs as well as fluid shapes interrupted by strong chamfers. The new Renegade practically inherits the genes of the Wrangler, as seen through its raised belt line, wide fender forms and beefy tires. The new Renegade could be fitted with an optional daylight opening that pays tribute the classic hardtop of the Wrangler. The sills sport a lower molded-in-color accent cladding for added protection. This accent also lightens the vehicle weight.
