After few leaked photos, Volvo officially unveiled the new Concept Estate, its third in a series of concept cars. According to Thomas Ingenlath a.k.a. Volvo’s Senior Vice President Design, the new Concept Estate makes the drive more enjoyable, efficient and safe, because everything is exactly where you expect to be.
A generous dash to axle ratio, low bonnet, sleek silhouette and a glass roof are the ingredients to create an astonishing three-door sports wagon. Moreover, the contrast between the five-spoke, 21-inch wheels, contribute to the modern and cool aura.
The front end follows the same design line as the Concept Coupe and Concept XC Coupe and is characterized by the ‘floating’ grille, a new topography on the bonnet and flanked by the T-shaped DRL light guides.
The rear light signature is another distinctive element in Volvo’s new design direction. Inside we find the crystal gear lever from Orrefors/Kosta Boda that has an orange glow, while the chequered black and white wool textile on the headliner and rear sides of the front seats adds playfulness to the ‘room’.
The instrument panel is covered by the naturally tanned saddle leather from Tärnsjö, while inlays made of waxed, naturally aged wood and machined copper details, also emphasise the exclusive Swedish atmosphere inside Concept Estate.
