Smart joined forces with fashion designer Jeremy Scott and created a special Smart ForTwo Electric Drive that looks like a batmobile but finished in a white color. For those who don’t know, the Smart ForJeremy has the wings not to save you from the bad people as Batman used to do, but because these are a familiar trademark of the American star designer.
The wings light up like igniting rockets to form avant-garde rear lights. The big surprise is that this new vehicle will actually enter production next year in as a limited special edition. It took eight months for Jeremy Scott to develop the Smart ForJeremy together with designers of the “smart Design Division” at the Mercedes-Benz Cars Advanced Design Studios in Carlsbad, California.
Moreover, the car is painted in bright white, while the wings are made of transparent fiberglass and decorated with rocket-shaped elements that light up red, serving as rear and brake lights. The new Smart ForJeremy also features wider rear tires and wider rear wheel arches, while the rims are shaped like aeroplane propellers. Furthermore, we find a new set of curved “eyebrows” above its front headlights.
Inside, the Smart ForJeremy offers white nappa leather for the instrument panel, seats and door trim. Shaped like a jet engine, the bright chromium plated side air inlets complete the wing theme on the exterior. The small car is powered by a 55 kW electric motor that is capable to push it from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery enables the urban two-seater to travel approximately 145 kilometres.
It took eight months but Jeremy Scott finally came out with the Smart Forjeremy. However, he did not do it alone as development was done in cooperation with the designers working at the “smart Design Division” of Mercedes-Benz Cars Advanced Design Studios located in Carlsbad, California. In a statement, Gorden Wagener reveals that working with Jeremy was indeed excellent, considering that he was a great source of creativity.
Inspired with how the Smart Fortwo was designed, the celebrated fashioned giant brought with him a wide array of visionary ideas. The result is a Smart whose details utilize the overriding wing motif with a futuristic and innovative feel to it. With a bright white paint, it allows the chrome-plated tridion cell to shine much like a jewel would. On both side of this model is a wing composed of transparent fiberglass.
It has been adorned with elements shaped like rockets and having red light, also acts as the brake lights and rear lights. According to Scott, transparency played a significant role since for him, it is a symbol of space and lightness. The confident and dynamic appearance of this new vehicle is highlighted by the rear wheel arches and the rear tires, both of which are now wider.
By shaping the wheel rims to have the appearance of a plane’s propellers, it gives a feel as if the vehicle might fly anytime. On top of the front headlights, the Smart Forjeremy has those gracefully curved “eyebrows” which show its uncontrolled delight and untamed curiosity. Since these “eyebrows” have a bright chromium plate to them, they are able to complement the vehicle’s tridion cell. The same is true for the border of the radiator grille and the top region of the mirror caps.
