2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will debut at the LA Auto Show

Earlier this month we presented you the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG but rumors regarding the more powerful S65 AMG are already starting to show up. As expected, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG will not receive the new twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 found on the S63 because it will stick with the 6.0-liter V12 twin-turbo engine.

If the current S65 AMG delivers 621 hp, the 2014MY S65 AMG will receive a slight bump in output, probably around 630 hp and around 1,000 Nm of torque (737 lb-ft) as some sources mentioned. Still, the curb weight of the 2014 S65 AMG will be 200 pounds less than its predecessor.

We expect the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG to zoom from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than four seconds. Regarding its debut, Car and Driver says that the S65 AMG will arrive in November at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, while deliveries will begin in March 2014.

All-new Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG highlights as standard the AMG sports suspension formed on MAGIC BODY CONTROL. The all-new S-Class holds the title as the first vehicle in the world that is capable of identifying road surface undulations beforehand. Once ROAD SURFACE SCAN recognizes such undulations using the assistance of the stereo camera, MAGIC BODY CONTROL tweaks the suspension beforehand to fix the situation.

The “Comfort” and “Sport” modes are accessible for a driver-defined suspension setup. While AMG-specific elastokinematics on the 4-link front axle and multi-link self-supporting rear suspension combine for significant control when a dynamic driving style is selected, the AMG sports suspension that is reliant on MAGIC BODY CONTROL helps provide the trademark Mercedes long-distance comfortability.

S65 AMG is endowed with ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist. Focused braking intervention at the inside rear wheel produces a precise cornering of the car and guarantees enhanced agility when taking corners at a high speed, with no known irksome understeer when turning into corners.

AMG speed-sensitive sports steering with variable steering ratio

Electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering combined with variable steering ratio is the perfect additional feature that efficiently maximizes vehicle speed and control while sustaining driving safety at high speeds. In “Comfort” suspension mode, the AMG speed-sensitive sports steering amplifies comfort by offering an optional steering assistance.
