A few more days to go and the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show will be opened for the public with quite a number of car manufacturers confirming their attendance. As a matter of fact, a number of carmakers have already presented a preview or have disclosed their lineup for the LA Auto Show. One of these carmakers is premium carmaker Infiniti. Nissan’s luxury division said its lineup for the LA Auto Show would include the Infiniti QX Sport Inspiration Concept, its new advanced variable compression VC-Turbo engine, the Q60 Neiman Marcus Limited Edition and the 2017 Infiniti Q60 3.0t Sport.
Infiniti first unveiled the QX Sport Inspiration concept at Beijing Auto Show in late April and early May. This SUV concept provides a preview of how future mid-size crossovers from Infiniti might look like – such as the next iteration of QX70. As unveiled in Beijing, the QX Sport Inspiration concept shows an SUV would appear once Infiniti's contemporary design language is applied. It features a sharper front end, muscular and taut profile lines as well as a flowing roofline. For the LA Auto Show, Infiniti wrapped the QX Sport Inspiration concept in a special shade of matte grey. It rides on a set of larger 22-inch bronze wheels that come with matching brake calipers.
Meanwhile, Infiniti’s new VC-Turbo (Variable Compression Turbo) engine – first unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show – is regarded as the world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine. VC-Turbo basically combines the output of a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine and the torque and efficiency of an advanced diesel powertrain but sans the usual emission levels. VC-Turbo could provide as much power as a six-cylinder gasoline engine -- with target output of around 200 kW (268 hp / 272 PS) and target torque of 390 Nm – while consuming much less fuel. It is also much lighter and more compact than V6 units with comparable outputs.
VC-Turbo could be considered as significant technology for the internal combustion engine, changing the game with innovations such as turbocharging, fuel injection, liquid-cooling and catalytic convertors. Employing an advanced multi-link system to seamlessly hike or reduce the reach of the pistons, VC-Turbo could detect the car’s current driving condition and driver inputs, and then select the most suitable compression ratio, from 8:1 (for high performance) to 14:1 (for high efficiency).
On the other hand, the new Infiniti Q60 Neiman Marcus Limited Edition is based on the Red Sport 400 model of the new 2017 Infiniti Q60 coupe. Wrapped in gold-like Solar Mica exterior color, the new Infiniti Q60 Neiman Marcus Limited Edition sports genuine carbon fiber accents on its fog-light finishers, fender vents, rear spoiler and mirror caps. It features a cabin with Silver Optic Fiber Interior Trim and Gallery White leather-appointed sports seats.
Powered by a 3.0 liter-twin-turbocharged V6 engine delivering 400 hp of output, the new Nieman Marcus Limited Edition Q60 is equipped with Direct Adaptive Steering and Dynamic Digital Suspension and is fitted with a Bose Performance Series premium audio system and the Infiniti InTouch infotainment system. The premium carmaker is only offering 50 units of the Infiniti Q60 Neiman Marcus Limited Edition.
Created for the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, each unit of the new Infiniti Q60 Neiman Marcus Limited Edition comes with a price of $63,000. Each unit includes a plaque with the car's VIN number, Neiman Marcus-branded indoor car cover, letter of authenticity and an exclusive ivory leather weekender bag.
Lastly, 2017 Infiniti Q60 3.0t Sport represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor. It is now available with three new turbocharged engines for various spec levels. It is powered by a new 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that could provide 300 hp of output and 295 lb-ft of torque. It also features a number of components from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400.
