Premium carmaker Infiniti will have a big reveal at the upcoming 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. According to Infiniti, this all-new model will feature a stand-out design as well as best-in-class interior space. Moreover, Infiniti’s all-new model will be laden with a number of world-first technologies.
Infiniti said the new model will be defined by a fresh interpretation of its characteristic Powerful Elegance design language. This design language is marked by flowing sculptural lines as well as by strong muscular proportions. The carmaker said these design cues lend the all-new model a purposeful aura while providing a hint of its dynamic capabilities.
While Infiniti didn’t actually disclose the identity of this new model, it has released a teaser image showing some portions of the front end, in particular the front grille and the headlamps. It is expected that this new feature will soon be revealed at the 2017 LA Auto Show in the next generation of the Infiniti QX50 sports utility vehicle. After all, the grille design of the all-new model is similar to that of the QX50 Concept SUV revealed at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show) in January.
The brand said back then the Infiniti QX50 Concept demonstrates its vision for a next-generation mid-size premium SUV. Thus, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the carmaker does reveal the next generation of the Infiniti QX50 at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Interestingly, the QX50 Concept is heavily influenced by the brand’s Powerful Elegance design language, just like the soon-to-be-revealed all-new model. Compared to the current QX50, the concept offers a more stylish and elegant exterior. This is evident on its refined double arch mesh grille design in chrome finish as well as on its intersecting lines and creases.
Aside from making the QX50 Concept appear more stylish, the roofline flowing to the rear with an angled rear window also contributes to the SUV study’s aerodynamics. The QX50 Concept is also provided with a cabin-forward stance that lends the SUV a more commanding presence on the road. Its off-the-road appeal is enhanced by a pair of metal skid plates on both flanks.
As revealed in Detroit earlier this year, QX50 Concept is powered by the carmaker’s groundbreaking new VC-Turbo (Variable Compression Turbo) engine, which is considered as the first production-ready variable compression ratio engine. Infiniti is targeting to make this engine develop around 200 kW (268 hp / 272 PS) of max output and 390 Nm of peak torque. Compared to V6 engines of similar output, the VC-Turbo engine is 27-percent more fuel efficient.
Thus, when Infiniti does reveal the next-generation QX50 at the upcoming LA Auto Show, this new mid-size SUV could be powered by the final production form of the VC-Turbo engine.
Alfonso Albaisa, Senior Vice President for Global Design at Infiniti, remarked that the all-new model strikes a perfect balance between lust and logic, revealing an ingenious blend of proportion and space.
Infiniti scheduled the reveal of its all-new model on November 28, 2017 at 5 p.m., just days before the LA Auto Show officially opens on December 1, 2017.
