Japanese carmaker Nissan is greeting 2017 with a new special edition of its Juke subcompact crossover – the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition. Nissan has been keeping the Juke fresh since it was launched in the market in 2011, and the latest limited edition version of this crossover does not only accentuate its bold and extroverted nature, but also represents how far a customer could go with the carmaker’s Juke Color Studio personalization program.
Just like its name clearly indicates, the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition carries a dark exterior, deriving its names from a limited edition 1978 280Z model also dubbed as “Black Pearl.” Specifically, it is a well-equipped JUKE SV in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and finished in Super Black exterior color with Pearl White exterior accents. Of course, the special edition features a number of revisions like white outside trim rings on its headlights as well as white bumper accents.
It also features white door handles and white caps for its heated exterior rearview mirrors. Additionally, the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition is provided with white rear spoiler and white accents on the rear bumper. It rides on exclusive Super Black-painted 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels wrapped in 215/55R17 all- season tires. Topping off the SUV’s exclusive look is a special Black Pearl Edition badge.
The Black Pearl theme is also well conveyed inside this special edition of the Nissan Juke. This is evident on its: black cloth heated front seats with white inserts and stitching; white power window switch finishers; and white and black cloth door trim inserts. In addition, the steering wheel features white stitching while the SUV’s signature Juke motorcycle-style center console has been finished in white. White is also the color of the accents on the shift knob and of the air vent trim rings.
The spacious interior of the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition is made even better with the fold-down 60/40-split bench seat and flat load floor. This special edition also features Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, RearView Monitor, 5.0-inch color display, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, Streaming audio via Bluetooth, USB connection port for iPod interface, Siri Eyes Free and Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant.
Serving as the core the of the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition is a 1.6-liter 16-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy inline 4-cylinder engine that features Direct Injection, which helps improve combustion, thereby enhancing output and torque as well as economy and emissions. This engine also boasts of a turbocharger, intercooler and variable timing control.
This four-cylinder sends power -- 188 hp of output and 177 lb.-ft. of torque – to the all four wheels or to the front wheels through Nissan’s advanced Xtronic transmission with Manual Mode and D-step Logic Control. Front-wheel drive models ride on an independent MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension, while AWD versions ride on a multi-link rear suspension system.
Nissan will only produce 1,250 units of the 2017 Nissan Juke Black Pearl Edition, 1,000 units of which will sold in the United States while the rest will be made available in Canada. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the Juke Black Pearl Edition package is $1,190. The 2017 JUKE SV is priced at $22,550 (front-wheel drive) and $24,400 (AWD).
