Jeep releases images of next-generation Wrangler before official reveal at LA Auto Show

Article by Christian A., on November 3, 2017

Barely a month before Jeep officially unveils the all-new next-generation Jeep Wrangler at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the carmaker released three official images of the capable SUV. These images are just teasers, but show the new Jeep Wrangler in its full glory before the LA Auto Show.

According to Jeep, the 2018 Wrangler is the most capable SUV so far, with an ability to deliver the superior 4x4 capability that Jeep vehicles are known. After all, the new Wrangler is expected to feature the latest, most advanced version of Jeep's vaunted four-wheel-drive system, allowing the SUV to remain the king of the off-road world.

The next generation of the Jeep Wrangler will also be available with advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, and will be laden with more safety features and advanced technology. There were no details about these powertrains, but there have been rumours the new Wrangler could be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a turbodiesel mill. An updated version of the 3.6-liter V6 engine employed in the current Wrangler is rumored to be included in the powertrain options, as paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Electrified hybrid variants of the new Wrangler are also expected to be offered.

As for the design of the new Jeep Wrangler, the ever-reliable SUV shows off its modern capability with a new design. Interestingly, the design of the next generation of the Jeep Wrangler remains faithful to the original, thus allowing the latest iteration of the SUV to be easily recognizable as a Jeep. For instance, the all-new 2018 Wrangler comes with the easily identifiable keystone-shaped grille as flanked by iconic round headlamps. Boasting of improved aerodynamics, the next-gen Wrangler features square rear lights.

Jeep disclosed that for the 2018 model year, the new Wrangler could be availed with convenient fold-down windshield – for more open-air freedom – that off-road drivers would find more enticing. In addition, the new Jeep Wrangler could be availed with a wide array of door, top and windshield combinations.

The carmaker has yet to reveal more specific details on the new Jeep Wrangler. Jeep is expected to disclose the complete details when it unwraps the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler to the global public at the upcoming LA Auto Show.

However, from these pictures, it’s apparent that Jeep will still offer the new Wrangler in two or four doors as well as in hard- and soft-top options. Furthermore, the new Jeep Wrangler offers a high level of customization. To showcase the available Mopar accessories – with more than 200 parts like light bars, cargo racks and offroad aids – Jeep is participating at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.
