Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach confirmed, will debut at 2014 LA Auto Show

Article by Christian A., on October 18, 2014

Back in April, we reported that Daimler is going to resurrect the Maybach name on an exclusive version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and that it will unveil the new vehicle at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show as well as the Guangzhou Motor Show.

If in April, everything was a rumor, today the S-Class Maybach was confirmed by Gordon Wagener a.k.a. head of global design at Mercedes-Benz. Wagener also revealed the fact that the new vehicle will be 5.5-meter long (18 feet), which means it will be longer than the S550 (5.24 m) but shorter than the Maybach 57 (5.7 m).

Under the hood, we will see a powerful 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12, which will deliver its power to the rear wheels. Moreover, the new S-Class Maybach will definitely get the Magic Body Control suspension in order to offer the highest level of comfort for its passengers.

When it comes to design, don’t expect a dramatic change as it will still look very much like an S-Class, but the interior will use the finest materials, reclining seats for the rear passengers as well as some Maybach badges that will remind you that it is not an ordinary S-Class.

The new luxury vehicle will be sold under the Mercedes Maybach sub-brand, which according to Caranddriver will be similar to Mercedes-AMG. The new brand will fight other luxury companies such as Rolls-Royce or Bentley.

More details to be revealed next month when we will see the S-Class Maybach at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
