At last, the all-new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class made its world debut and brings back the Maybach name. With a length of 5453 mm and a wheelbase of 3365 mm, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is scheduled to make its debut on the market in February 2015. As we already told you, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 will be powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 530 hp and 830 Nm of torque, while the S500 will get a 4.6-liter V8 engine with 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
What’s more surprising is that despite the output delivered by the V12 engine, both models need 5.0 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), while top speed is 155 mph or 250 km/h. The S500 uses a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, while the S600 uses the 7G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic transmission.
Combined fuel consumption is 31.7 mpg (8.9 l/100 km) for the S500 and 24.1 mpg (11.7 l/100 km) for the S600. When it comes to design, some of the key features of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class include a new radiator trim with large opening and three double louvres in chrome, subtle vertical chrome trim, double trim in the air intakes on the left and right and double trim in the bottom end piece of the bumpers.
At the rear, there are chrome double louvres, Maybach lettering on the boot lid and tailpipe trim elements. The big surprise is found at the interior where the passengers will be enveloped in lounge-style, modern luxury. Mercedes-Maybach offers as standard the Exclusive trim package, which adds fine-wood trim with handcrafted feel that surrounds the rear seating system.
Moreover, the seat-back lining, doors and nozzle coverings feature fine wood. Maybach crests are found on the front centre armrests, while the analogue clock with an IWC design is found integrated in the dash. Air-Balance package comes as an option and includes fragracing, ionization and even more efficient filtration.
The company offers a premium fragrance designed exclusively for this model and the Agarwood bottle features the Maybach lettering. Handcrafter champagne flutes are offered as an option, but the panoramic sliding roof is offered as standard and for the first time is available with the optional Magic Sky Control technology, which allows passengers to switch the glass to light or dark.
Small roller sunblinds for the triangular windows reflect the attention too detail and together with the electric roller sunblinds in the rear doors protect passengers from prying eyes. The First-Class rear suite (centre console in the rear) is a visual continuation of the front console on the centre tunnel. It is equipped with innovative thermo cup holders, which use Peltier technology to cool or warm drinks over a longer period of time.
The continuous business console, part of the optional First-Class rear suite, is longer than in the normal S-Class and offers extra stowage space. Voice amplification is offered in conjuction with the Burmester surround sound system and the Burmester 3D surround sound system. Mercedes-Maybach offers the voice amplification in order to make easier the communication between the rear passengers and the driver.
