Check out Bugatti’s $40,000 limited edition 5 kg bicycle

Introducing the lightest bicycle in the world, and it is built by no less than French maker of high-performance luxury vehicles Bugatti. Yes, you are reading it right, this luxury bike is made by Bugatti.

If the name Bugatti is mentioned, perhaps the first things on your mind would be the Chiron and the Veyron. These two supercars are considered as some of the fastest production cars in the world. In fact, the Super Sport version of the Veyron has been recognized by no less than Guinness World Record as the fastest street-legal production car in the world with its max speed of 268 mph (431 km/h). The Veyron alone is a testament that Bugatti could go beyond the convention and be the best in the world (in one field at least).

Bugatti now has again gone beyond convention by offering the lightest bike there is. In collaboration with German maker of bicycles PG Bikes, Bugatti has come up with a new special urban bike that would serve as the perfect complement to its supercars, especially the Chiron. Dubbed as the PG Bugatti special urban bike, this two-wheel non-motorized ride weighs a measly 11 pounds or less than five kilograms.

But if you think that the lightest bike in the world is also light on your pocket, you are thinking wrong. It is because you would have to shell out around £32,000 ($39,803) just to get one example of the PG Bugatti superlight superbike. That would be comparable to the price of a new Audi A5.

If you are wondering how the company was able to make the PG Bugatti as light a five-liter bottle of water, all PG and Bugatti had to do was employ carbon fiber. Developed by PG and designed by Bugatti, this new special urban bike combines the best of the worlds of bike and automobiles. Handcrafted by Kussmaul, the PG Bugatti bike employ reinforced carbon frame from Merelli, vertical shock absorption bar, high-tensile fiber components, aero-optimized cross section.

Its fork, rims, handlebar as well as seat, seat post, crank and brake are made from highest quality carbon fiber. Moreover, all of the PG Bugatti bike’s carbon components are handcrafted using prepreg materials and methods, which are usually found exclusively in motor sport and aeronautic industries. Prepreg materials and methods allowed the PG Bugatti bike to obtain the lightest weight and highest rigidity possible.

The wheels of the PG Bugatti bike are sourced from German firm Lightweight while its tires are supplied by Continental.

Only 667 examples of the PG Bugatti bike will be made available. Customers could request to have their bikes matched to their own Bugatti vehicles, thanks to the availability of special paint and colors as well as numerous types of leather.
