Omas launches Lamborghini Aventador-inspired pen

Article by Christian A., on September 24, 2011

Lamborghini designed a limited edition pen that’s likely to be sought after by avid writing instrument collectors. This pen named “Automobili Lamborghini by Omas” was recently launched by OMAS, a famous Italian manufacturer of writing instruments. This has a limited run similar to the older batch of Lamborghini-inspired Omas pen dubbed the “CARS LAMBORGHINI by OMAS.”

Automobili Lamborghini and Omas collaborated in producing a pen that stands for the obsession for mechanics of the two companies.

Ergonomic principles were used in designing the pen, allowing for perfect handling. It was built with the utmost precision by using a bayonet closing system that makes writing more pleasurable. The launch of the pen coincided with the introduction of the Lamborghini Aventador model. Only 700 pens each would be manufactured for every model and color.

The 700 number is in reference to the 700hp output of the V12 engine of the Aventador. The pen is sporty and is offered in three colors like the car cotton resin, orange and black. Its cap and barrel come with a unique cut to give it a sports car look.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 is an embodiment of unmatched driving experience, boasting of a stunning design, exceptional lightweight engineering and vicious power, as well as the very finest equipment and incomparable handling precision. With these attributes of the Aventador LP700-4, Automobili Lamborghini is not redefining the acme of the global super sports car market but is also taking a gigantic step into the future.

And all of this will be realized once Lamborghini rolls the initial batch of Aventador LP700-4 off its production facility in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy and deliver them to its first customers in late summer 2011. Interestingly, the Aventador derived its name from that of a bull that participated in a battle at the Saragossa Arena of the Spanish Corrida in October 1993. This bull earned the "Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera" for its remarkable courage.

This courage is evident on Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 through its technology package. First off, at the core of the new Aventador LP700-4 is a new high-revving 6.5-liter 12-cylinder engine that develops 515 kW (700 hp) of max output with a high level of torque available at lower rpm. This power is complemented by the lightweight, yet safe and stiff nature of the innovative carbon-fiber monocoque that results to an overall dry weight of 1,575 kilograms (3,472 lbs) and a weight-to-power ratio of only 2.25 kilograms per hp (4.96 lb/hp).

These attributes allow the Aventador LP700-4 to sprint from nil to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). Amazingly, despite the eight-percent surge in power compared to its predecessor, the Aventador LP700-4 fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions have been trimmed by around 20 percent. The powerful 12-cylinder engine of the Aventador is mated to a race-derived ISR transmission that boasts of shifting time of only 50 milliseconds and a highly emotional shift feel.

Also, the Avantador superb handling precision and high-level performance are attributed to the fact that it comes with a lightweight chassis with pushrod suspension. Meanwhile, the interior of the new Aventador LP700-4 is also loaded with hi-tech elements like the TFT cockpit display with Drive Select Mode system.
