Official photos of the new Honda CRF450 Rally, developed specially for rally racing, have been released to the public. The Honda CRF450 Rally will be employed by Team HRC -- the company’s motorcycle works team for rally races -- at the upcoming “2014 Dakar Rally – Argentina, Bolivia, Chile” in January 2014.
After 24 years of absence, Team HRC returned to the Dakar Rally in January 2013 with the CRF450 Rally, which is derived from the commercial CRF450X enduro racing model. The company was able to generate from the 2013 Dakar Rally valuable data in vital areas like engine output, aerodynamic performance, durability and maintenance requirements.
The company used these data for further design modifications and enhancements – resulting to the new CRF450 Rally. The new CRF450 Rally still features the Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI), the electronic fuel injection system that was able to make a good showing at the Dakar Rally despite severe and variable environmental conditions.
Honda will also release the new CRF450 Rally other rally teams as a production rally machine during 2014. Team HRC is also slated to take part in 2013 Morocco Rally this October 13, using the CRF450 Rally that features the same combination of five riders and five machines for the 2014 Dakar Rally.
The 2013 Morocco Rally will serve as a good testing ground for the CRF450 Rally, providing vital data for further improvements. [source: Honda Motorcycles]
