Yamaha unveiled the Super Tenere Concept at the Intermot Cologne Show. This 1200cc adventure bike offers hints of the adventure tourer that consumers can expect to arrive in its dealerships in the near future.
The bike, which appears to be ready to compete in a desert race, has several aftermarket parts, including Ohlins suspension components (for uprated performance) and an Akrapovic exhaust system (for handling dynamics).
The Yamaha World Crosser concept is equipped with a full navigation and GPS suite integrated behind the tall front screen, which is very helpful when navigating vast open spaces with few visible landmarks.
According to a company statement, this bike is “fully-equipped with an exclusive range of lightweight chassis components.”
It also revealed that this high-specification machine is targeted at “adventurous riders who want a supremely capable motorcycle for the toughest global challenge." Yamaha also said that in building this new concept motorcycle, it has "underlined the true spirit of the Super Tenere.”
Yamaha said that it added a few specialist components and replaced some of the standard parts to make to prepare this rugged adventure bike to be driven on off road adventures.
Yamaha has yet to confirm if it plans to sell the World Crosser, but it’s likely that some of its features could be used to upgrade the Super Tenere. Yamaha also provided details about the Super Tenere, which has been fitted with high-tec innovations, including traction control, ABS and a 270-degree, 1,199cc 115 bhp parallel twin engine.
