Audi has just revealed the racing version of the new TT and announced a new racing series called Audi TT Sport Cup from 2015 in DTM environment. After launching the Audi R8 LMS Cup in Asia, the German manufacturer prepares another one-make cup in Germany, starting 2015.
According to Audi, in the 2015 season, at each of the six DTM events held in Germany as well as neighboring countries, two races of the Audi Sport TT Cup are planned.
24 cars will compete in the Audi Sport TT Cup and six cockpits will be reserved for changing guest drivers. For those who are interested they can apply worldwide for the other 18 places on the grid at audi-motorsport.com effective immediately.
The racing version of the Audi TT has a total weight of just 1,125 lkg and are powered by the 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine that generates 310 hp (228 kW). Thanks to the pus-to-pass function, the output of the engine is increased by 30 hp (22 kW).
The four-cylinder engine as well as the six-speed S tronic transmission were adopted from the production model and Audi says that these are nearly unchanged. Moreover, there is an active differential that ensures optimal traction at the front axle.
The winner of the Audi Sport TT Cup will be able to make the next step in Audi’s successful GT3 sports program and will receive support.
