BMW Motorsport has teamed up again with DTM, marked with the offering of six BMW M3 DTM cars in 2012. The Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM is one of those cars that bear the design of Castrol EDGE and Aral Ultimate. This signifies an extension of the current, long-term partnership between Castrol and BMW Motorsport.
In addition, it also considers Aral Ultimate as the partner of BMW Motorsport in the DTM. BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt said that it has put its faith in the top-performing Castrol lubricants for several years.
He said that on the racetrack, they have “celebrated countless successes.” He explained that it’s because of this that BMW Motorsport is “delighted” that it could build on this established partnership in the DTM. He said that high-performance brands Castrol EDGE and Aral Ultimate perfectly suit its DTM project.
According to Michael Hansen, the CEO Deutsche Castrol Vertriebsgesellschaft, said that the DTM is “one of the most spectacular racing series worldwide,” pushing the drivers, teams and cars to its limits. He explained that these demands for high performance compel it to undergo research and develop its products through the rigors of motorsport. He added that DTM and BMW Motorsport are looking forward to future challenges and are prepared to guarantee that BMW succeeds in the DTM just like in the past.
Continuing BMW's trend for outstanding motorsport, the M3 cuts swaths through the competition both on and off the track in terms of its performance history, durability and versatility. The M range encompasses all the best in BMW and displays its heart for all to see.
Packaged with an eight-cylinder engine, the driving force behind much of the M3's power is capable of delivering the kinds of speed only thought possible in Formula 1. Taking this concept to the road, this engine used by the BMW Sauber F1 team has increased the output of this V8 to an incredible 309 kW or 420 horsepower. The V8 delivers 295 lb-foot of torque / 400 Nm and 8,400 rpm.
What makes this BMW M3 even more remarkable is the potential thrust and pull generated via the M variable differential look and grounding this in the rear of the vehicle through the wheels. By funnelling the power and generate power at an astonishing speed, it does 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds! Carrying this feat onwards, the M3 has a top speed of 250 km/h or 155 mph when the electronic limits for the engine take effect.
Brand-new technology and design.
As part of the BMW M Gmbh series, the M3 has a history which cannot be ignored. Coming from a motorsport heritage – the very first BMW M3 premiered in 1986 and has continued its legacy through a series of subsequent models. We’re hoping it will have longer reign as the speedster within BMW's prestigious M range.
