X-Lite to launch jeweled Lorenzo Valencia helmet

Article by Christian A., on November 27, 2010

If you’re truly a fan, you might want to keep a memento of Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo’s triumph at the final round in Valencia and of his having been named the 2010 MotoGP World Champion. A good reminder of this feat is the jeweled version of the X-Lite X-802 helmet.

X-Lite will be launching a very limited number of hand-crafted replicas of this helmet. Dubbed Lorenzo Valencia, this helmet is finished in eight layers of paint, with impregnation of gold pigment. Just like Lorenzo’s original, the Porfuera symbol on top has about 1800 hand-laid Swarovski crystals. This symbol translates as ‘on the outside’.

Creating one helmet takes 96 hours. Aside from the helmet, buyers will also receive a special presentation packaging plus, the World Champion’s signature. The X-802 is a helmet meant for MotoGP competition.

It features three sizes of outer shell and it has an ASD (Adjustable Stability Device) built in to aid stability at speed and extract hot air from the interior. For comfort, the helmet has a front integrated aerodynamic vent, side air extractors, direct entry front air intake and indirect entry upper air intake.

The X-802’s visor has a wide field of vision and a very fluid mechanism, and the triple-density removable cheek pads make use of STEADYFIT, assuring comfort and security even during high speeds. With an RRP of EUR10,000/$13,250/GBP8,500, each helmet will have to be ordered and a two-month lead time is expected. The maker requires a deposit of EUR2,000/$2,700/GBP1,700. The helmets are offered in sizes from XS to XXL.
