Besides the Discovery 4 (LR4) HSE Luxury Limited Edition, Land Rover also unveiled the Range Rover Sport Limited Edition at this year’s 2012 New York Auto Show. Based on the HSE version, the Range Rover Sport Limited Edition will be offered in four body colors: Firenze Red, Orkney Grey, Fuji White and Santorini Black.
The Santorini Black mesh grille is highlighted by a Noble (satin chrome) bezel and black surround, while the bonnet badges and the tailgate finisher are in Atlas Silver (gloss silver finish). Moreover, the rear 'SPORT' badge is finished in Salsa Red. The side view shows fender vents featuring a bright red logo bar set against a Santorini Black grille, finished by an Atlas Silver surround.
The design is completed by the unique 20-inch alloy wheels. The interior is finished in HSE Ebony colour way and features a choice of four dedicated seat trim styles. According to Land Rover, the seat inserts can be chosen in Pimento Red, Cirrus, Lunar Grey or Ebony with contrast stitching.
The headrests also feature an embossed 'SPORT' logo. The power comes from the 510PS supercharged LR-V8 engine combined with the ZF HP28 6-speed automatic gearbox delivering 625Nm of torque. An optional LR-TDV6 diesel engine combined with the ZF HP70 8-speed automatic transmission is also available.
Land Rover has long been known for its off-road ability as it has long set the standards that many other models continue to follow. For the 2011 Range Rover Sport for instance, it was now fitted with the Gradient Acceleration Control and the Hill Start Assist. With the 2012 Range Rover Sport, there is another new feature and this is seen in the interior. Particularly, the touch-screen 7-inch display is now offered to have the Dual View technology as an option.
With this, the driver can look at the navigation display while the passenger in the front continues to watch a movie. For those sitting in the rear, the entertainment package was improved as well with the addition of the WhiteFire wireless technology. In addition to implementing some key changes to the specifications of the Hi-ICE, its performance was enhanced as well.
Further, the premium audio systems have been modified to have the MOST Gen 2.1 electrical architecture. It has the Premium Harman Kardon LOGIC 7 with 17 speakers and it is able to deliver power amounting to 825W. Offered as well is the voice command feature known as “Say What You See.” Offered as part of premium systems, it allows for spoken short codes to be used.
Additionally, it allows the driver to learn the different commands through step-by-step prompts. According to John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director, the different modifications implemented on the 2012 Range Rover Sport resulted in this model maintaining its position as the top SUV in the market in terms of dynamic and economic performance.
This new model, he added, is able to offer lower emissions and even high levels when it came to the efficiency of the diesel engine. There is no doubt that that the 2012 Range Rover Sport is able to have the refinement and power this range has been known for, continued Edwards.
