Acura, a Japanese based company founded 31 years ago, has been building luxurious and high performance cars. Many share the opinion that the brand has been attempting a balance between luxury and output and not really succeeding every time. At times, it may seem ambiguous where the company wants to focus.
Out with the old, and in with the new. At the recent 2017 New York Auto Show, Acura unveiled the 2018 TLX, just the second car after the MDX to adopt the “Precision Crafted Performance Design”. This model actually made its debut in a private event days before its official launch at the auto show.
The premium sedan comes with a more functional dashboard software similar to the recent Honda Accord. Apart from the having a quicker response, the new TLX is equipped with a dual screen new interface that includes a seven-inch central touchscreen, instead of the confusing design that the old model had. The software is also compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and AcuraWatch.
As a standard, Acura makes sure to include automated braking with forward collision warning system and lane departure warning and prevention. It also comes with sensors that support adaptive cruise control.
2018 TLX is a good alternative to the premium set including the Audi A4, Lexus IS, and the Cadillac ATS. As of today, there has been no word yet on the price tag of this model. But we do know that the model will be in showrooms by the end of the year.
