There are a lot of reasons to be excited for the 2017 New York Auto Show this week. The reasons range from Jeep’s most powerful SUV, to Dodge’s SRT Demon, and many others.
After Alfa Romeo introduced the range-topping Stelvio Quadrifoglio at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the company decided it would release the standard version of the crossover at the upcoming New York Auto Show.
The company promises that even the base model will offer excellent performance. With only an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the all wheel drive has the ability to send 60 percent of the torque to the front wheels when extra traction is needed. Both the Stelvio and Stelvio Ti will have a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder that can yield 280 horsepower (209 kilowatts) and 306 pound-feet (415 Newton-metres) of torque. In just 5.4 seconds, both vehicles can speed up to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometres per hour), and have a top speed of 144 miles per hour (232 kilometres per hour). The range topping model, on the other hand, has a 505 horsepower 2.9 liter twin turbo V6 engine and can hit 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 177 mph.
Though there aren’t really many special features the Stelvio can offer, Alfa Romeo still decided to bring this model in the already crowded crossover segment. The base model will be equipped with HID headlights, a leather cabin, a remote start, a backup camera. While the Ti will come with the same features plus some more including heated front seats and steering wheel, front parking sensors, an 8.8-inch infotainment system, wood interior trim, and 19-inch wheels.
For those who want more, the company offers an optional Sport Package for both models. This package comes with larger alloy wheels (19-inch for the Stelvio and 20-inch for the Ti), paddle shifters, aluminum pedals and foot rest, brake calipers in several colour options (red, yellow, or black), gloss black window surrounds and roof rails, and a 12-way adjustable front sport seats.
As for Stelvio Ti customers, they can opt for a more premium package that is the Lusso package. This upgrade will give a more luxurious feel to your cabin as it comes with Pieno Fiore Italian leather upholstery, accent stitching, wood trim in dark gray or light walnut shade, and a leather wrapped dashboard and upper door trim.
There has not been any announcement of the prices of these models (including the Stelvio Quadrifoglio). However, the 2018 models are expected to be in showrooms before the year ends.
