The upcoming 2018 New York Auto Show is home to a number of premieres. Some of these are the Lincoln Aviator, 2019 Ford Fusion, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Corolla hatchback, and many others. While the hype is huge for these models, there are also those that made their mark albeit in a more subtle way. One of those is the 2018 Fiat 500 Urbana Edition.
In case you were wondering, Urbana is not the new nameplate for the 500 range. That is because it is already used in the 500X and is used by the 500L Trekking. In the newest application, the special edition model gets a black trimmed exterior lights, it then sits in s set of 16 inch “hyper black” aluminum wheels with signature Urbana Edition elements.
Beginning in spring of this year, the Fiat 500 Urbana Edition will be offered in Pompei Silver, Bianco White Ice, Perla White Tri-coat, Granito Gray, and Metallo Gray exterior colours. As for the interior, upgrades are limited to new front bucket seats with silver accent stitching as well as a black instrument panel bezel.
Similar to the rest of the 500 Urbana Edition, the 2018 500 lineup is the same when it comes to the engines. This means that it gets a 1.4 liter turbo four cylinder engine that provides 135 horsepower (101 kilowatts) and 150 pound feet (203 Newton metres) of torque. The standard 500 models can be had in either a five speed manual or a six speed automatic gearbox, but Fiat is still going to confirm whether both options will be offered for the Urbana Edition as well.
In 2018, there will be an all turbo Fiat 500 lineup, which now comes standard with more horsepower compared to any of its competitors. The Head of Passenger Car Brands at FCA North America, Steve Beahm, says that with the arrival of its new Fiat 500 Urbana Edition, the brand creates “a new custom, personalized option” for its customers.
We are expecting to learn about the 500 Urbana Edition’s prices before its market launch. And here are the prices for the other two members of the Urbana family - the 500L Urbana Edition is available for the 2018 500L Trekking models for an extra $395, while the 500X Urbana Edition package will have a price tag of $845 for both the all wheel drive and the front wheel drive 2018 500X Trekking variants.
After the Urbana Edition’s launch at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, start of sales will follow at the FIAT studios this spring.
