2018 Lexus LS 500 F Sport teased ahead of New York Auto Show premiere

Article by Christian A., on April 7, 2017

Lexus once again intensifies its product portfolio with a new LS F Sport –shortly after coming out with an all-new LS 500 and LS 500h at this year’s auto shows. Basically, this new Lexus are for those who want to get more punch and depth to the usual LS 500 sedan.

The 2018 Lexus LS F Sport will ride on the brand’s premium GA-L platform (Lexus’ global architecture for luxury vehicles). At the very least, the Japanese brand is expecting the LS F Sport to benefit from the GA-L’s responsive and agile performance, while keeping the same cabin quietness and smooth ride that are synonymous to all LS models.

It can be recalled that Lexus made a promise to bring the most engaging driving experience on the new LS sedan. The GA-L platform, after all, happens to have the stiffest chassis it has ever developed in years.

As with any upcoming premiere, Lexus hasn’t shared many details on the new LS F Sport. Instead, Toyota’s luxury division has released a lone teaser image showing the sedan’s most outstanding features –or in this case, the sporty elements.

Style wise, the LS F appears to have a sporty dual exhaust system, chrome tailpipes and a new set of tinted tail lamps. Adding to its aggressive image are the F-sport badge across the boot lid and a new sporty black diffuser in gloss finish.

All the same, it is likely to have the Lexus LS 500’s Dynamic Handling package. This will further enhance its performance particularly when it comes to stability, steering and braking.

More importantly, the new safety suite or Lexus’ Safety System + now has the latest safety and driver assist technology. It’s only reasonable to have this with the new Sport variant.

Also, the LS F will likely take advantage of Lexus’ new improved braking system and sportier suspension set-up. The possibility of a limited slip differential may also be on the cards, if ever that’s the case.

In addition, our guess is that the new LS F will have an updated interior. Lexus might offer a sporty trim with a different upholstery to match. This should be seen at the car’s front seats as well as on the steering wheel. Moreover, the rest of the vehicle will probably adopt to the sporty image of the new Lexus LS F Sport such as for the wheels, the side profile and also at the front end.

Come what may, the 2017 New York Auto Show is scheduled to open this coming April 12. Lexus will be holding a press conference during the LS 500 F Sport’s premiere. Only then will we know exactly what the brand has to offer.
