At the 2013 New York Auto Show, Audi unveiled the all-new 2014 S3 Sedan. Set to make its debut on the market just a few months after the launch of the new sedan model series, the new S3 Sedan will be powered by the 2.0-liter TFSI engine delivering 221 kW (300 hp) and 380 Nm (280.27 lb ft) of torque. Using the S tronic, the S3 Sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.9 seconds, while with the manual transmission it takes 5.3 seconds.
Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155.34 mph). Still, fuel consumption is just 6.9 liters per 100 km (34.09 US mpg) or 7.0 liters (33.60 US mpg) (with S tronic or manual transmission).
CO2 equivalent of 159 or 162 grams per km (255.89 or 260.71 g/mile). Comparing it with the A3 Sedan, the S3 Sedan is with 25 mm lower and features larger brakes behind the standard 18-inch wheels: the front discs are 340 mm (13.39 in) in diameter.
The new Audi A3 has a completely redesigned exterior, specifically tailored to cater to the American market’s sedan preferences. It has a length of 175.5 inches, a width of 70 inches, a height of 55.7 inches, and a 103.4-inch wheelbase. These result to compact proportions that are also very sporty, nearly resembling Audi’s original A4 from 1994.
A3’s signature Singleframe grille and its available full-LED headlights are two of the most notable design changes in the new A3 sedan. In fact, these are a first for the A-segment.
Moreover, the A3’s athletic exterior extends to its interior, where the defining element is a “wraparound” dash design. This wraparound design incorporates an innovative 3D inlay concept surrounding both driver and front passenger.
It also has a LED interior lighting package available, highlighting the impressive craftsmanship and the meticulous attention to detail that every Audi A3 interior possesses. This is accomplished by enveloping the car’s interior in cool white LED light, which surrounds its center console, door panels, Bang & Olufsen Sound System, and cupholders.
Furthermore, the Audi A3 promises the same prestige and the same high-quality materials you get from the A8, Audi’s flagship sedan. Its seats have standard leather surfaces and offer exceptional ergonomics. Moreover, it is equipped with the MMI operating system, which sports an electronically extending screen and whose terminal is housed in the center dashboard console.
The car also boasts a 7” high-resolution display screen complete with less-than-a-half-inch-thick magnesium backing. And to enhance your driving experience even further, the car’s new MMI controls are positioned conveniently behind the gear shift. These controls have the first touch pad incorporated in a rotary control wheel, offering simple and intuitive operation. And with the optional Bang & Olufsen Sound System, which has 705 watts and 14 speakers, passengers can enjoy the best onboard acoustics.
