Just ahead of the 2015 New York Auto Show, Land Rover introduced the all-new 2016 Range Rover Sport HST. According to the company, the new HST extends the Range Rover Sport lineup and sits between the existing 340 hp Range Rover Sport 3.0-liter V6 supercharged and the 550 hp supercharged variant.
The new 2016MY Range Rover Sport HST uses a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine that produces 380 hp. Still, this is not the only interesting feature of the vehicle as the striking black theme is the hallmark of the exterior design.
The HST features Stealth Pack lamps front and rear, with non-reflective surrounds and combined with a Santorini Black contrast roof as well as a new spoiler. Moreover, there are distinctive 21-inch alloy wheels featuring an exclusive dark satin grey finish that hide the uprated brakes with red brake calipers.
As an option, the British manufacturer offers 22-inch Stealth alloy wheels. Inside, we find duo tone seats trimmed in luxurious Oxford Leather, all-Ebony door trims and centre console and standard Ebony headlining. Land Rover offers the leather upholstery in four Ebony/colour combinations, as well as all-Ebony options. HST badges are found on the dashboard, carpet mats and the TFT instrument panel.
The design is completed by the Noble-plated paddle shift gear levers on the steering wheel, the aluminum interior trim that features a textured ‘Sports’ finish and by the bright ‘Sports’ pedals. Land Rover will also bring the 2016MY Range Rover Sport at the New York Auto Show, which arrives with some new features.
As a result, the 2016 Range Rover Sport gets a 3.0-liter TD6 turbocharged V6 diesel in North America, delivering 254 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. According to the manufacturer, the diesel engine will offer a combined fuel consumption of 24 miles per gallon. Meanwhile, the SDV8 diesel engine receives stop/start technology.
As standard, 2016 Range Rover Sport models featuring the Terrain Response 2 technology get as standard All Terrain Progress Control. Also as standard is the new Auto Access Height, a system that lowers the vehicle to access height when it comes to a halt and door is opened.
Gesture Tailgate promises to help you and will provide hands-free operation of the tailgate by waving a foot underneath of the rear of the vehicle. 2016MY Range Rover Sport will offer a new Carbon Fiber Pack, which adds side vents, tailgate trim, door trim covers, a front grille surround, fog lamp bezels and bonnet vents finished in high-gloss lacquer.
