Land Rover introduced its new flagship, the 2016 Range Rover SVAutobiography, at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. Described as the most powerful production Range Rover, the new SVAutobiography is powered by an all-aluminum 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine re-tuned especially for this model.
The engine produces 550 hp and 680 Nm of torque, an increase of 40 hp and 55 Nm of torque when compared to the standard V8 supercharged Range Rover derivates. Moreover, the engine is bolted to a sophisticated ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
Still, Land Rover says that Range Rover SVAutobiography customers are able to order other powertrains such as the TDV6, SDV6 Hybrid, SDV8 and SCV6 supercharged derivatives.
And yes, it is for the first time when a turbodiesel Range Rover is offered in North American markets. When it comes to design, the 2016 Range Rover SVAutobiography is easily recognizable thanks to the unique due-tone body colour option.
This option gives customers the opportunity to order their vehicle with a Santorini Black upper body and nine colour choices for the lower body. Furthermore, the SVAutobiography badging, new Range Rover bonnet lettering, front grille finished in Graphite Atlas and polished chrome, make the vehicle unique.
At the rear, quad tailpipes hint at the huge amount of power delivered by the supercharged V8. The interior continues the same luxury theme and shows the start-stop surround and rotary controls machined from solid aluminum with knurled details just like the foot pedals, front and rear centre console with distinctive materials for the cup holder and socket covers.
In addition, new armrest adjusters feature a similar lever of machined detail. The rear passengers get luxurious seats as well as a chiller compartment and powered deployable tables. Aluminum seat rail finishers and deep twist pile mohair carpet mats complete the design, just like the solid aluminum coat hooks incorporated into the rear pillars.
The polished key fob gets a knurled finish. As an option, the luxurious SUV gets a sliding loadspace floor made from crafted aluminum and a choice of veneer options. The floor extends rearwards in order to optimize practicality and ease for loading and unloading.
What’s more interesting is that SVO developed the ‘Event Seating’ for those who enjoy the versatility of Range Rover’s split tailgate. ‘Event Seating’ is hand crafted from Windsor leather with an aluminum frame and can be stowed in the luggage compartment.
