Chevrolet announced today the all-new Trax small sport utility vehicle, a sister model of the Opel Mokka, which will join its portfolio next year as the car will make its official debut in September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
According to the official press release, the Chevrolet Trax will be offered in over 140 markets and will arrive at the European Chevrolet dealerships in spring of 2013, following the introduction of the all-new Chevrolet Malibu and the Cruze station wagon in 2012.
Regarding the design, the Chevrolet Trax looks like a smaller Captiva and promises to offer an interior executed to standards usually found in more expensive vehicles.
"Trax provides Chevrolet an entry into a growing small SUV segment and delivers the flexibility, great fuel economy and car-like handling that urban explorers require," said Susan Docherty, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe.
It is easy to note that Chevrolet knows a lot about SUVs, having produced its own nearly eight decades ago with the launch of the Suburban Carryall in the 30s. At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the new Chevrolet Trax commemorates its international debut, representing Chevy's first bet to the speeding growth of the compact SUV class. Trax will complete Chevy's offer of elegant SUVs at par with the Captiva.
President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe Susan Docherty said that Chevrolet has been well known for its reliable and durable SUVs for years. Chevrolet Trax will have all the classic values and other attributes that it is well known for. It is an advanced, fully flexible but fuel-efficient compact SUV, providing sedan-like handling and all-wheel drive. Trax carries the contemporary asset of one of Chevy's solid strengths, which is manufacturing and selling awesome SUVs.
Sporty built, strong body lines
Being 4,248 mm long, 1,776 mm wide, and 1,674 mm tall, Chevy's latest compact SUV will excite the segment with its inspired design, an option of three fuel-efficient engines and athletic, responsive driving attributes.
From every angle, Chevrolet Trax exudes sporty movement and agility. With the logo making a divide between the upper and lower portion of its easily seen front grille, the compact SUV can be instantly marked as part of the Chevrolet family where it belongs. The slight center crease on the surface of the hood and the intricately designed halogen headlights contribute to the car's active look.
