Last year at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Suzuki unveiled the iV-4 Concept, a vehicle that previewed its upcoming crossover that will take on Renault Captur and Nissan’s Juke. Back in May, we reported about the production version of the vehicle and its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, in October. Prior to the French auto show, Suzuki revealed today the first image with it brand new small and stylish SUV, called Vitara.

That’s right folks, the Vitara name makes it return, which was first used more than 25 years ago also on a small SUV.

There aren’t many details available yet, but according to the official press release, the Suzuki Vitara will hit the UK market in the spring of 2015, powered by petrol and diesel engines that promises to return an outstanding fuel economy and low CO2 emissions.

As an option, the 2015 Vitara will be available with the ALLGRIP intelligent four-wheel-drive system. Regarding the design, the 2015 Suzuki Vitara is clearly inspired by the iV-4 Concept and will bring various colour and trim customization options. More details to be revealed closer to the public launch.

Since it was introduced to the market in 1988, the Suzuki Vitara series has been known for offering comfortable on-road performance, stylish designs, compact dimensions as well as and genuine off-road capability. Since launch, the Vitara seen itself go through different evolutions in terms of body size and powertrain. Now, over 25 years since that iconic launch, the Vitara heritage is being reincarnated as an all-new sports utility vehicle.

Compared to its predecessor, the all-new Vitara comes with smaller dimensions intended to meet demands of contemporary customers. The new Vitara also incorporates the carmaker’s innovative ALLGRIP four-wheel-drive system as well as advanced safety and connectivity equipment. Furthermore, customers are given the opportunity to personalize the design of their own Vitaras.

Suzuki will commence production of the new Vitara at the Magyar Suzuki site in Hungary in early 2015, with introduction to the market set in Europe. The new Vitara will then be exported worldwide as Suzuki's new global compact SUV. The new Suzuki Vitara features the styling of its series as well as the Jimny series, while adopting an all-new exterior design.

Suzuki developed the new Vitara to offer generous off-road capability, as made possible by its large wheels and high ground clearance. It could also be driven on most road surfaces and most driving conditions thanks to an ALLGRIP system with four modes, thereby ensuring that the new SUV delivers a high level of on- and off-road performance.
