South Korean carmaker Kia has a new version of its Kia Ceed. It performs just like a standard Kia Ceed but it does look similar to the high-performance Kia Ceed GT. Kia believes that this new offering – the all-new Kia Ceed GT Line -- will strengthen the appeal of its new mid-size family car range.
The new Kia Ceed GT Line, which Kia has just unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, can be availed on every version of the new Ceed (Ceed five-door hatchback and Ceed Sportswagon). On the other hand, the ProCeed shooting brake variant comes standard as the Kia ProCeed GT Line.
On the exterior, the new Kia Ceed GT Line is laden with unique GT-inspired design elements a satin chrome and gloss black ‘tiger-nose’ grille surround, newly designed front and rear bumpers similar to that of the Ceed GT and ProCeed GT. Horizontal metallic ‘blades’ are found on the fog lamp surround. Available in any of the 10 available paint finishes, the new Ceed GT Line models rides on 17-inch wheels, on optional 18-inch GT Line alloy rims.
Meanwhile, the interior of Ceed GT Line boasts of a sportier cabin environment. The grey roof lining has been replaced with black cloth, while the door sills now have metallic scuff plates. As standard GT Line models comes with D-shaped steering wheel. Versions fitted with Kia’s double-clutch transmission feature metallic paddles mounted on the steering wheel.
Front occupants of the new Kia Ceed GT Line are treated to new sports seats. Trimmed in black cloth and light grey synthetic leather, these new sports seats boast of larger side bolsters than those in typical Ceed models. Customers may also avail of the optional sports seats with the same supportive structure found on the new Ceed GT and ProCeed GT. The optional sports seats feature larger side and thigh bolsters and are finished in black leather and suede with grey stitching and piping. For Kia Ceed GT Line models with full leather upholstery, Kia is offering optional heated and ventilated front seats as well as heated rear seats.
While the 2019 Kia Ceed GT is powered by an updated 1.6-liter T-GDi engine that delivers 201 hp of peak output and 265 Nm of max torque, the Kia Ceed GT Line is served by any of the engines available for the standard Ceed. These include Kia’s 1.0-liter T-GDi engine (118 hp), 1.4-liter T-GDi mill (138 hp) and the 1.6-liter ‘Smartstream’ CRDi diesel engine (113 hp and 134 hp). These engines send power to the wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, while a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is optional.
Kia will commence sales of the new Kia Ceed GT Line across Europe in the first quarter of 2019, with the carmaker’s seven-year/150,000 km warranty as standard.
