Article by Christian A., on October 26, 2011

Besides the GS F Sport project, Five Axis also wanted to show us that the smaller Lexus CT 200h can also be modified and revealed the first photos with the new vehicle which will be introduced next week at the 2011 SEMA Show. The new Lexus CT 200h comes with a completely new body kit, featuring a new front bumper, new side sills and a sick rear bumper with integrated exhaust system. The car also comes with a new paint, the JDSU ‘Dark Passage’.

Moreover, the design is completed by the custom 19-inch Five:AD forged wheels, wrapped in high performance Yokohama Advan Sport tires.

Behind these tires we find the Stop Tech high performance brake kit as well as a new Tein Flex coilover suspension system. Inside, the car features uniquely appointed seats with laser etched ultrasuede ecodesign inserts, custom illuminated headlinder, upholstery by Turinmodel, custom touchscreen interface center console and 3M Crystalline window film by The Tint Factory.

The CT 200h – the latest offering from Lexus -- is a synthesis of the brand’s five key attributes. It was built with the unprecedented level of experience found in premium compact motoring through the Lexus Hybrid Drive and the demanding set of standards associated with the Lexus MUST. It also carries that elegant yet dynamic style that is the L-finesse design philosophy of the Lexus.

This model wouldn’t have been made without the brand’s attention to detail and superb manufacturing quality. Of course, it comes with the well-known outstanding customer service of Lexus. The hybrid drive of the CT 200h has a rather distinctive energy management system. By applying brand-specific software tuning and engineering solutions, engineers of Lexus managed to enhance the driving and environmental performance of the complete hybrid series/parallel system.

It also boasts of its low levels of NVH. The system has a total output of 134 horsepower and is able to reach 0 to 60 mph in 9.8 seconds. The CT 200h also has a low fuel consumption getting a 42 mpg fuel economy rating from the EPA.

Aside from fuel efficiency, the hybrid drive has less NOx emissions, and even zero particular emissions, compared to other diesel engines. When the CT 200h is running in the switchable EV mode, it has zero particulate and NOx emissions and can do so with speeds of up to 28 mph.

To enhance further the hybrid drive’s credentials, various environmentally-conscientious and energy saving measures have been incorporated. Other features include an energy-efficient audio system and amplifier, bamboo charcoal speakers, bio-sourced materials, and LED lighting.
