The 2015 Lexus NX 200t just got more attractive thanks to 360 Elite Motorworks and visitors from the 2014 SEMA Show were able to see the new vehicle. As you can see from the photos, the crossover arrives with a new Artisan Spirits aero kit consisting of a new front lip spoiler, new front bumper with LED attachment, new side sills, a rear air diffuser, a trunk spoiler as well as front and rear fender flares.
The exterior is highlighted by the Molte Pearl colour by Foreign Auto Body as well as by the HRE P104 forged monoblock wheels painted in gloss black and wrapped in Toyo Proxes T1R Sport tires. Other upgrades include 360 Elite intake and exhaust and new RS-T Sports-i series coilovers.
There are no details regarding the total output delivered by the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, but we do know that the standard version produces 235 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Power is delivered to the front wheels as standard.
Premium carmaker Lexus is getting ready to shake up the luxury compact segment with the MY2015 Lexus NX. Having acquired the signature Lexus premium styling, the performance-inspired NX is the result of engineering inputs from active racers. The new Lexus NX is confident enough to break through a segment populated by boxy offerings by presenting a dramatic yet dynamic design.
Yes, the MY2015 NX offers the boldest interpretation of the signature Lexus spindle grille and L-finesse design while sitting on a platform engineered by a team that includes active racers. When launched, the 2015 Lexus NX will be available in two versions -- the NX 200t powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine; and the NX 300hhybrid.
This means that Lexus now has six hybrid vehicles available to the luxury public – the most among premium brands. Unlike others, the NX 300h hybrid offers a real driving kick, thanks to a new transmission with a kick-down function. As insisted by racers on the engineering team, the vehicle’s hybrid battery was split into two separate pods for better weight distribution, as well as a more efficient use of cabin room.
The new 2015 Lexus NX owes its distinctive appearance to a number of characteristic elements like the dramatic spindle grille, L-themed headlights and a body seemingly carved from a single chunk of metal. The new NX is provided with a premium, distinct look that exudes both its functionality and performance. It boasts of crouching, muscular stance -- as made possible partly by providing good ramp-over angles for light trail driving – as accentuated by its highest point set back rearwards of the roof.
The auto industry had long sought to make a vehicle seemingly styled from a single piece of metal. The design team for the NX team also sought this – pouring molten steel into a base derived from die of the spindle grille to see how it would naturally shape up. The result of this experiment inspired the angular, integral shape of the new NX.
Lexus designed the C-pillar to be angled and wide to optimize the width of the internal storage, allowing four golf club bags to be laid longitudinally across the cargo compartment. Meanwhile, the raked tailgate and integrated spoiler of the new NX are accentuated by the brand’s signature LED L-shape light clusters. Interestingly, the detailing on the tailgate is similar to that on the spindle grille.
Amazingly, the new Lexus NX features a wind-cheating shape, as proven by its co-efficient of drag value of just 0.33 Cd (NX 200t). This was partly made possible by six underbody aero panels and a roof-mounted spoiler derived from motorsports.
The new Lexus NX rides on a new range of exclusive 17-inch wheels, or on optional 18-inch alloy rims which come in designs that evoke the feel of exotic sports cars.
