2014 SEMA Show: Scion FR-S by Super Street

Article by Christian A., on November 1, 2014

The Scion FR-S is becoming more and more popular among tuning companies and promises to be the star at the 2014 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show. This time, Super Street is the company to present a custom version of the FR-S and as you can see from the photos, the new vehicle is wider, wilder but also louder. According to the company, the custom FR-S received a TRD Release Series 1.0 front bumper, rear bumper as well as a fender garnish.

In addition, there are Aeroflow Dynamics side skirt add-on, front splitter and fog light delete. Furthermore, there are Rocket Bunny x GReddy Version 1 front fenders and Version 2 rear fenders, carbon trunk and hood from Seibon, Bulletproof Automotive x Crystal Eyes Taillights and a PPG Speed Yellow Paint. The exterior design is completed by the custom 18-inch Floss Edition BBS LM wheels wrapped in Nitto tires.

The suspension system was also upgraded with KW Clubsport coilovers, an Eibach rear camber kit as well as a roll center bumpsteer kit, front control arms, two-point sway bar brace and White line front and rear sway bars. Inside, there is a Godspeed custom 6-point rollcage, new Recaro Sportsster CS seats, a new steering wheel, Works Bell steering hub and quick-release adapter, a new Pioneer Avic-800 NEX head unit, 12-inch subwoofers, amps and speaker components.

Still, this is not all as the interior also features Wildwood compact remote flange mount master cylinder and swing mount forged pedals, custom stereo work by The Car Shop and custom upholstery stitching.

The 2.0-liter Boxer engine received new Borla Induction 45 mm DCOE ITBs, fuel rails and 70 mm stacks, Injector Dynamic 1000cc injectors, Rywire custom brake line tuck kit, fuel kit, radiator line kit, clutch line kit and engine harness with Mil Spec connector. Moreover, there is a Gearheinz manifold adapter, alternator relocator, custom drive-by-wire ITB bracket, custom engine cover, steel firewall, tubed inner fenders and steel cowl.

The Scion FR-S coupe – which stands for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport – essentially turned heads when it was unveiled. Fifth model in Scion's product lineup, the FR-S is the brand’s representation of a genuine rear-wheel-drive sports vehicle with outstanding balanced handling and performance, surprising fuel efficiency and compelling style.

It wasn’t a big secret that the Scion FR-S was inspired by the AE86 generation of the Corolla, which is known as the Hachi-Roku (Japanese terms for "8-6"). Looking up to the AE86, the FR-S is developed around the core goal of attaining "Pure Balance." This balance starts with the only flat boxer engine in the world that is fitted into a rear-wheel-drive, front-engine configuration.
