BMW flaunts new M Performance parts for M4 Coupe, M2 Coupe at 2015 SEMA Show

Article by Christian A., on November 5, 2015

BMW is showing off a collection of sports-oriented BMW M Performance Parts – fitted on several BMW cars like the BMW M4 Coupe and the new BMW M2 Coupe – at the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) in Las Vegas.

These parts are distinguished by an "M Performance" inscription, which signifies BMW M Performance’s dynamic image as well as the l functional orientation of the BMW M Performance Parts. This new inscription will initially appear on BMW M Performance Parts on the BMW M2 Coupe and BMW M4 Coupe.

The inscription will soon appear on all BMW M Performance products. The choice of the BMW M4 Coupé as the show vehicle for the M Performance Parts is not surprising. This vehicle is considered as the ultimate driving machine and has been the yardstick for sporty driving in its class.

To further highlight its capabilities, the M4 Coupé’s already athletic appearance is made sportier with new BMW M Performance aerodynamic parts like the front inserts made of high-end carbon fiber (CFRP) and the front trim grille in high-gloss black.

Furthermore, the M4 Coupé features polyurethane (PUR) side sill attachments – with the “M Performance” inscription -- from BMW M Performance. Moreover, the BMW M4 Coupé is provided by BMW M Performance with exterior mirror caps in carbon fiber finish as well as side gills in high-gloss black in the M gill elements.

Additionally, the body of the coupe features BMW M Performance motor racing stripes. On the rear, installed parts from BMW M Performance include carbon fiber diffuser with three strikingly shaped bars and a through-flow carbon fiber rear spoiler.

Accentuating the rear appearance of the vehicle are the motorsports stripes on the spoiler and the new “M Performance” inscription on the lateral end plates of the rear spoiler. All of these exterior parts of the BMW M Performance contribute to the BMW M4 Coupé’s high-end appearance and further highlight the dynamic character of the vehicle.

Not only that, all BMW M Performance aerodynamic parts match the coupe’s airflow response, which means that these components help optimize aerodynamic performance.

For better ride and handling, the BMW M4 Coupé comes with BMW M Performance’s adjustable coilover suspension while the lowered suspension gives the vehicle a more athletic appearance. Interestingly, the SEMA vehicle is fitted with a BMW M Performance exhaust system that produces more sound despite weighing less.

This is thanks to the system’s lightweight construction that includes a stainless steel exhaust duct and a titanium rear silencer, which features the “M Performance” inscription. These features are complemented by carbon fiber tailpipe trim elements with M logo, also from BMW M Performance.

Customers can choose between the two options for adjusting the audio profile of the BMW M Performance exhaust system. Each of these options is connected to the performance characteristics of the engine and can be activated with a single push of a button.

On the other hand, the BMW M4 Coupé show car is still powered by a six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology. This six-cylinder powerplant is mated to an M twin-clutch transmission and churns out a maximum 425hp of output while returning the best fuel efficiency still unmatched by any other engines with the same power yield.

With this power, the BMW M4 Coupé could accelerate from zero to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds and reach an electronically limited of top speed of 155mph. The slew of M Performance Parts on the BMW M4 Coupé continues inside its cabin. For instance, the cabin is provided with a Pro steering wheel from BMW M Performance with a rim in Alcantara Anthracite.

At the rim’s 12-o'clock position is a blue center-position marking derived from motorsports. Likewise, the steering wheel trim element features a clear-finish carbon fiber and the "M Performance" inscription.

Moreover, the show car’s M twin-clutch transmission’s gear selection lever (BMW M Performance) extends from the center console trim, also from BMW M Performance. On the other hand, the pedal system features stainless steel covers from BMW M Performance.

Also, the door handles and the handbrake are made from light composite material carbon fiber with Alcantara gaiter. The SEMA-customized BMW M4 Coupe also comes with LED door projectors.

BMW M4 Coupe customers will be able to get their hands on the new BMW M Performance Parts starting January 2016. On the other hand, all parts could be availed from certified BMW dealers starting June 2016.

Following the debut of the new BMW M2 Coupé, BMW did not waste time developing BMW M Performance Parts for this high-performing compact just in time for the SEMA 2015. This SEMA-bound BMW M2 Coupé features black gloss trim grilles and M specific twin trim bars for the front kidney grille elements, which in turn don black gloss trim ring surrounds.

Additionally, the show car sports M gill elements with black gloss trim bars while the exterior mirror caps BMW M Performance come in carbon fiber. The BMW M2 Coupe is fitted with a new BMW M Performance suspension and rear spoiler in carbon fiber finish.

It is also equipped with a sports exhaust with flap system and tailpipe trim elements in carbon fiber. Inside, this SEMA vehicle features a BMW M Performance steering wheel with Alcantara cover and an open-pore carbon fiber trim element.

Its BMW M Performance gear selection lever, meanwhile, features a trim element for the M twin-clutch transmission, which in turn comes in open-pore carbon fiber. The center console of the vehicle is also provided by BMW M Performance.

This center console features carbon fiber and Alcantara. Moreover, the BMW M2 Coupé at SEMA dons pedal covers in stainless steel. BMW will unveil more details of BMW M Performance Parts for the new BMW M2 Coupé in Spring 2016. BMW’s stand at the SEMA 2015 is at the lower level of South Hall (Stand 40247).
