To highlight the strength, versatility and personalization of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Chevrolet has collaborated with camo hunting gear company Realtree and the actor of Outdoor Channel’s The Bone Collector Michael Waddell to develop the ultimate outdoor adventure vehicle.
Together with other personalized Chevy truck themes created to display the depth and range of the brand’s three-truck lineup, the Realtree Bone Collector concept was presented at the 2015 SEMA Show.
According to Sandor Piszar, the marketing chief of Chevrolet trucks, Chevy trucks are known for their capacity to be driven anywhere and that inspiration serves as the basis in developing these exciting concept vehicles.
He also mentioned that these trucks can show off many possibilities with the 'personalization, inspiration, and assurance' of what is regarded in the industry as the most reliable and dependable full-size trucks.
The Realtree Bone Collector theme was conceptualized based on the Silverado 1500 High Country crew cab with 4WD. This concept features a new front-end design for 2016 and various new technologies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
It also comes with bigger off-road tires that cover black Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch black aluminum wheels as well as a front push bar, assist steps and sport bar. Attached to the sport bar is an LED off-road light bar available from Chevrolet Accessories, which is very helpful especially when driving at night.
And to secure and store outdoor gears, a drawer system is incorporated in the cargo bed. A cooler is also mounted at the back of the cab. A customized camo theme that matches the Realtree Bone Collector green graphics is created especially for this truck.
Both camo theme and graphics incorporates Michael Waddell’s signature. The same color scheme is applied to the six-piston disc brake calipers, and the green theme continues at the tie-down rings and bungee cords in the bed, used to secure camping gear.
As part of a concept upgrade package from Chevrolet Performance, a set of 16.1-inch-diameter (410mm) disc rotors is also included. According to Waddell, the Silverado concept is the best outdoor lifestyle vehicle, equipped with specialty gear and ability to be driven in various terrains.
And the Realtree camo graphics makes the truck more distinguished and adds functional personalization. The interior of the Silverado Realtree Bone Collector comes with a unique kind of instrument cluster display with Bone Collector green-tinted lens.
Stitching accents that match the theme are done on the leather-trimmed bucket seats, steering wheel and console. Custom-embroidered front-seat headrests are also included. The same camo pattern is applied to the interior trim components of the instrument panel and Chevrolet Accessories’ floor liners have been installed to protect the carpet.
Various Chevrolet Accessories are also added including an under-seat storage system, Silverado-logo door sill plates and an ambient lighting package. Equipped with an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, the concept vehicle can also maintain connection with the outside world thru an OnStar 4G LTE with a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Similar to all 2016 Silverado 1500 models, the Realtree Bone Collector concept is created using a high-strength steel construction. To improve the truck’s capability, a powerful V-8 engine is installed with best-in-class 420 horsepower.
When equipped properly, the 6.2L V-8 can go up to a 12,000-pound max trailering rating. Together with all other concepts displayed at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet will review and assess the responses and opinions to the truck to identify production potentials to add more accessories, performance parts and special-edition models.
