Paddle boarders have a new aspiration at SEMA – the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse SUP Concept

Article by Christian A., on October 25, 2017

We all know the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse to be a crossover that can comfortably fit seven to eight people. So it is a good choice for those who like to go on trips away from the city - whether it be the beach or the mountains. Having said that, here is the new Traverse SUP Concept that would be the perfect ride for adventurers. It is a three-row crossover with a beach-inspired livery and amenities that would meet all your paddle boarding and hauling needs.

The Traverse continues to look like its old self, as it did not get a lot of crazy tweaks or a major facelift. Instead, it had been given a new Chevrolet Accessories Stand Up Paddleboard Carrier by Thule, and this includes a paddle board by Riviera Paddlesurf - pretty cool, huh? So this concept is really focused more on the paddle board carrier that can be bought as an attachment. Yes, the good news is that customers will be able to purchase this separately.

What makes this SUP concept unique is the fact that the car’s design matches that of the paddle board. It includes “Blue Wave” bodyside graphics like that of the blue River stand up paddle board. Yellow stripes that run across the belt line act as a contrast, as well as the gloss black bodyside moldings and fog lamp bezels and tinted windows.

The Traverse SUP concept will be the first of many accessories that customers can add to their three-row crossover. And the Traverse exterior is not just about blues or waves. Some parts including the 20-inch wheels, grille inserts, and bowtie emblems can be blacked out if you prefer that. As for the interior, the seats have embroidered headrests, black floor mats that are suitable for all types of weather, illuminated front door sill plates, and a black cargo liner. The Traverse also gets assist steps and a trailer hitch to complete the Chevrolet Accessory parts bin.

We doubt that the blue decals on the body will make it to production, as not everyone is into designs like that. But the smoked-out taillights are already part of both the Traverse Redline edition and the RS trim level. The LED headlights on this concept can also already be found on the luxurious Traverse High Country.

Look no further if paddle boarding is one of your favourite pastimes, where else could you find something that was especially created for carrying and transporting these heavy boards? If you are interested to see the 2018 Traverse SUP in person, you can head to the 2017 SEMA Show from October 31 through November 3.
