Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Concept announced for 2011 SEMA Show

Article by Christian A., on October 26, 2011

Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Concept, a specially equipped 2012 Silverado 2500 HD, will be brought to the upcoming SEMA Show 2011 in Las Vegas. Described as the ultimate hunter’s truck, this concept was the work of Chevrolet and outdoor outfitter Realtree. The concept is based on the Silverado 2500 crew cab and has been given a custom Champagne Silver Metallic exterior with Realtree graphics.

The interior features Dark Cocoa leather seating with camouflage piping and blaze orange stitching. Realtree AP pattern accents can be seen all over the interior as well.

Going off-road with this four-wheel-drive Silverado will be a breeze as it has been fitted with a set of aggressive 35-inch off-road tires on 18-inch wheels. It also gets a custom front bumper with an integrated winch. It is powered by a Duramax diesel engine with 397hp (296 kW) and 765 lb.-ft. of torque (1,037 Nm). This gives it enough power for towing and off-road driving. In addition, outdoor gear is secured by a custom rear cap. Entry and egress are improved with the use of power-actuated running boards.

“This truck is a celebration of the seven-year partnership between Chevrolet and Realtree. It’s only natural to combine the dependable, long-lasting Silverado HD with Realtree, the best gear for the outdoors,” said Tony Truelove, marketing manager for Chevrolet pickups. “Like all great outdoor gear, the Silverado Realtree Concept is designed to get the job done – and look sharp while doing it.”

For the 2012 model year, the Chevrolet Silverado has been loaded with a variety of improvements in the areas of aesthetics and passenger comfort, as well as connectivity. Appearance-wise, the new Chevrolet Silverado is gifted with new chrome mesh grille that is complemented by either a chrome surround (LS and LT models) or a body-colored surround (LTZ model).

In addition, the LS and LT models of the Chevrolet Silverado are specified with new 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheel and a silver-painted lower bumper fascia – now aerodynamic on 2WD models – sans tow hooks. For the exterior, four new colors are now available: Carbon Flash Metallic, Graystone, Mocha Steel Metallic and Silver Ice Metallic.

For the interior, two new color combos are being offered: Dark Cashmere/Light Cashmere and Dark Titanium/Light Titanium. Moreover, Chevrolet is offering the White Diamond Edition for the LT and LTZ models, providing these versions with distinct White Diamond Tricoat exterior color as well as chrome mirror caps and door handles.

The LT models are featured with body side moldings with chrome accents while LTZ versions come with the 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels wrapped in touring tires, Z60 high-performance suspension package, and a chrome tow hook and exhaust tip kit. On the other hand, the new Chevrolet Silverado comes with a new navigation radio, an updated screen and integrated hard drive.

Likewise, the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado now offers OnStar and SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth and USB connectivity as well as a Wi-Fi system. LTZ models could be availed with heated/cooled seats.

All Chevrolet Silverado 1500s – aside from Hybrid models – are specified with StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, which include Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist. Furthermore, all Chevy Silverado 1500 models come standard with cruise control and a spare tire lock.

Maria Rohrer, Chevrolet Truck marketing director, quipped that the Silverado will continue to be very appealing to truck customers thanks to its reliable V-8 performance and excellent fuel economy, as well as a wide range of models.

Rohrer noted that sales of Silverado through July have gone up by around seven percent. Rohrer added that the changes made on the Silverado for the 2012 model year further enhance the already capable and rugged Silverado with an updated design, with the availability of navigation radio and Wi-Fi systems.
