Ford tuner and motorsports firm Shelby Automobiles have come out with its latest example of the Super Snake package for the 2010 Ford Mustang GT500 and will be revealed at the Mid America Ford and Team Shelby Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.
Shelby provided the donor car, the GT500 Coupe, with a new supercharger to its existing 5.4-liter DOHC V8 and bumps power output to 725hp (540kW).
Included in the modifications are enhanced intercooler and radiator, a cold air intake and a high-flow JBA exhaust. A Borla cat-back unit replaces the JBA exhaust for a milder version of the car with only 630hp is also offered. Ford Racing suspension with adaptable dampers, more rigid springs, beefier antiroll bars, a front strut tower brace and bespoke 20 inch Super Snake wheels clothed with Pirelli P-Zero rubber.
Baer six-piston front calipers with cross drilled and ventilated discs provide the car's stopping power. The engineers of Shelby Automibles have equipped the car with a new hood and a large scoop and vents, racing stripes, window scoop at the rear and splitter and side sills in carbon fiber to help it stand out from among the crowd. On the inside the car comes with Shelby logos are embroidered on the headrests and gauge faces made from carbon fiber.
The Super Snake package is priced beginning at $29,495 for the 630hp model, while the 724hp version gets a $33,495 price tag including installation at the Las Vegas facility of Shelby Automobiles or at any authorized Shelby workshop. The modifying begins this coming August.
For those who are not willing to shell out the price of a new GT500 Mustang, apart from the Super Snake enhancement package, the firm is also offering the Shelby SR package for the older 2005 to 2009 Mustang GT which is much less expensive.
The maximum power yield for this model is pegged at 550hp (405kW) due to a Ford Racing supercharger and Borla exhaust system. Included in other revisions are Eibach suspension package, lightweight aluminum wheels in 18 inch diameter, and Baer six-piston performance brakes for precision stopping power in all corners.
