Brabus, the official Mercedes-Benz tuner, revealed the first tuning program for the 2014 S-Class. Based on the S500, the vehicle comes with a new aerodynamic kit consisting of a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes, ventilated front fenders, side sills, a rear bumper with integrated air diffuser and exhaust system, as well as a boot lid.
A lowering module was also added, which reduces the ride height by 15 mm. The exterior design is completed by the 19-, 20- or 21-inch Platinum Edition Monoblock VI or Monoblock F cross-spoke alloy wheels. Brabus didn’t release any pictures with the interior, yet. Now, let’s focus on engine! Brabus installed a 520 PowerXtra CGI performance kit on the S500 that produces 520 hp and 820 Nm of torque (604 lb-ft).
With these numbers, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). For those who just bought the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, Brabus offers the 650 PowerXtra CGI package.
As a result, the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine delivers 650 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque (737 lb-ft). If this isn’t enough for you, Brabus offers the B63S – 730 high-performance version, unmistakable thanks to the Brabus Gold Heat Reflection system for the intake and charge-air pipes.
The tuner replaced the two production turbochargers with two special Brabus turbos with larger compressor unit that generates higher boost pressure. Moreover, a low-temperature water radiator was added, a free-flow exhaust system with metal catalysts and 75-mm (3-in.) thick downpipes, as well as special BRABUS mapping for the engine management system.
The result: 730 hp and 1,065 Nm (785 lb-ft) of torque. Top speed is electronically limited to 325 km/h (202 mph). Brabus also offers a sport exhaust with controlled butterfly valve for the S500 and S63 AMG models. Using just a button found on the steering wheel, drivers can choose whether to operate the V8 in a discrete “Coming Home” mode or to enjoy a markedly throaty exhaust note in the “Sport” position.
