Would you like to shred the streets riding an Audi S3 Cabrio that has had its engine boosted? You're in luck, as a leading auto tuning company has stepped up its game and remade the Audi S3 into a raging speed sports car.
Audi S3 Cabriolet is the convertible, roofless variant of the S3 hatchback that is largely influenced by the S3 Saloon, and is geared to compete against the BMW 2 Series Convertible and the Porsche Boxster. The S3 Cabriolet comes with a 2.0 L turbocharged petrol engine that delivers around 305 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque. Features come with direct and indirect injection system, high strength connecting rods, twin balancer shaft and pure aluminium pistons.
But this convertible will be getting the makeover, ABT Sportsline style. The tuner's ABT Power S package produces speed that has been deemed impressive by the car enthusiasts. It has been compared to a hurricane, but even a hurricane can rarely achieve a wind speed that’s faster and stronger than what the tweaked S3 Cabrio can dish out.
The S package is composed of a custom-built control unit that’s put in instead of Audi's stock 2.0 L turbocharged 4 cylinder. Thanks to the ABT Power intervention, the S3 Cabriolet now boasts of a 400 HP (294 kW) and 500 Nm of torque, an increase of almost 100 HP and 205 lb-ft of torque.
No further details were disclosed by the tuning company on how the modified convertible is able to reach that impressive performance, but it is reportedly working with a custom sport catalyst in the exhaust to produce that big of an output. The engine upgrade launches the S3 Cabriolet from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Beneath the modified S3, the tuning company newly installed sport anti roll bars on front and rear area, in which the carbody can still bring about the last touch of roll angle and drive thereby rendering the car more flexible.
The new parts don't end there, as fender inserts and ABT brand alloy wheels put more spunk to the exterior. Clients interested in the ABT Power Package can choose the wheel sizes which range from 18 to 20 inches. Moreover, a special door entry lighting that will reflect the ABT Sportsline's logo on the floor adds to the aesthetics impact of the sports car.
However, for those who prefer a less faster option which also relates to a lower cost than the ABT S package, there’s something for them too from the tuning company. It offers the ABT a power kit that removes the sport catalyst and exhaust boost for only up to 370 HP (272 kW) and 480 lb-ft of torque. For those who are interested on how the modification of the ABT S3 looks like, ATB has set up an interactive configurator on their official website for everyone to experiment with.
There's still no official announcement from ABT regarding the costs of the 2 exclusive packages. Looming right ahead could be bad news for the tuning company, as the same 400 HP Audi RS3 sedan is about to be unveiled in the U.S. market. The package can be put in a tough spot as Audi reported that it will not release the S3 Cabrio to the US Market. No worries, at least the RS3 is expected to roll out anytime.
