The current generation of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class that has been in existence since 1990 (W463) is set to hit the end of the road soon. But it remains to be a favorite base among a number of tuners, including Brabus. In fact, Brabus has teamed up with footwear designer Jon Buscemi to create an exclusive version of the G-Class -- the new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition -- as unveiled to the global public at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show.
As the name of this all-terrain creation indicates, it comes with a massive 850 hp (625 kW or 838 bhp) of output at 5,400 rpm. This comes courtesy of a Brabus 850 6.0 twin-turbo V8 engine which had its stock displacement of 5,461 cc increased to 5,912 cc (333 cubic inches to 361 cubic inches).
This engine, also tuned to deliver a whopping 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb.-ft.) of peak torque available between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm, had its two production turbochargers replaced with turbochargers featuring modified exhaust manifolds and a larger compressor unit.
Power level is enough to send the new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition – with a weight of 2,550 kilograms (5,622 lbs.) – sprinting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.0 seconds and achieving an electronically limited top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph). Power is sent to all wheels through a Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission with ergonomic BRABUS aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
Derived from the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, the new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition was customized according to the preferences of Buscemi. Wrapped in black, the Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition features a number of golden highlights on its body and wheels. These contrasting elements can found on the 23-inch Brabus Monoblock Y “Platinum Edition” hi-tech forged wheels that feature golden undercuts around rims.
The golden finish is also found on the running boards and on the ring of the Brabus spare wheel cover on the liftgate. The various emblems on the new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition also feature a golden finish. The Brabus-Buscemi creation also comes with Brabus Widestar wide body and the Brabus Dynamic Ride Control suspension. The wheels -- also available in Brabus Monoblock E evo, F and R forged wheels – are shod in high-performance tires (305/35 R 23) from Continental, Pirelli or Yokohama.
Inside, the new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition is provided with a number of golden elements on the Brabus Race paddle shifters and scuff plates as well as the panel on the trunk. The lavish interior of the new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition is upholstered in black Brabus leather with red stitching, edging and piping.
The new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition comes with two pairs of Buscemi sneakers and with tailor-made Brabus Buscemi Edition luggage. Interested customers could purchase the Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition at a starting price of EUR410,000 (plus VAT).
