By all means, the Mercedes-AMG G63 is already a high-performance luxury sports utility vehicle. It essentially takes luxury to the off-road with a superb performance potential. Nonetheless, German tuner Brabus still thinks the AMG G 63 can still offer more. Thus, the German company created the new Brabus 700 Widestar.
Unveiled to the global public for the first time at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show, the Brabus 700 Widestar isn't just more powerful but is also more menacing than the AMG G 63, thanks to a number of modifications.
In terms of looks, the Brabus 700 Widestar appears more distinctive than a typical AMG G 63. This is thanks to a new Widestar variant made just for the new G-Class, transforming the AMG G 63 into a widebody version. The body of the 700 Widestar has become wider by 10 cm thanks to muscular sculpted wheel arch flares as well as Brabus fender attachments both at the front and rear axle.
LED units are also found on the SUV’s Widestar front and rear fenders, lighting up when the door is unlocked or when a door handle is pulled. The lights in the Brabus logos in the fender attachments also activate when the door is unlocked or when a door handle is pulled.
The Brabus 700 Widestar also has new a front bumper while its new front fascia now transitions seamlessly into the wheel arch flares. The SUV also has integrated LED position markers below the side air intakes as well as a special insert with integrated Brabus logo on the radiator grille. Moreover, the vehicle comes with the Brabus auxiliary light bar on the roof with two powerful LED units.
Clients for the Brabus 700 Widestar can avail of a wide array of tire/wheel combinations, in sizes 20 to 23 inches. These include the Brabus Monoblock “Platinum Edition” 23-inch forged wheels as well as the Monoblock F 23-inch cross-spoke wheels that Brabus 700 Widestar rides on while in Monaco.
Inside, the Brabus 700 Widestar can be personalized according to the taste and preferences of its owner. Clients can choose from different upholstery materials, designs and colors. The show car in the Monaco Yacht Show 2018 comes with a Brabus fine leather all-leather interior in vanilla and black, as highlighted with orange piping and vanilla-colored ornamental seams.
Greatly differentiating the Brabus 700 Widestar from the AMG G 63 is their power levels. The AMG G 63 also boasts of a 4.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 585 hp (430 kW) of max output and 850 Nm (627 lb.-ft.) of peak torque. But thanks to the BRABUS B40-700 performance upgrade, this engine can now provide 700 hp (515 kW) of max output and 950 Nm (701 lb.-ft.) of peak torque. Along with the nine-speed SPEEDSHIFT TCT transmission and permanent all-wheel drive, the Brabus 700 Widestar can sprint from nil to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds and achieve an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph).
