A customer looking for a new Chevrolet Camaro is definitely up for the thrill. At the peak, this can be provided the Camaro ZL1, especially when installed with the 1LE package. But the Camaro ZL1 1LE is no match for the Camaro created by Specialty Vehicle Engineering, Inc. After all, this version of the Camaro – the 2019 YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro -- can deliver up to 1,000 hp of mind-boggling output.
This isn't to say that the Chevrolet Camaro isn't a fast car. After all, even in its “weakest” version, the Camaro is a sports car that still offers considerable 275 hp of max output and 295 lb.-ft. of peak torque from its 2.0-liter Turbo SIDI engine. This is the same engine found in the 1LT and 2LT versions of the Camaro, but with the addition of a number of features.
For those who wanted more, the carmaker is offering the Chevrolet Camaro 1SS and 2SS. They are powered by a 6.2-liter V8 DI engine that can provide up to 455 hp of output and up to 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The Camaro range is topped by the ZL1, which is served by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 DI mill that is tuned to deliver 650 hp of max output and 650 lb.-ft. of peak torque.
To further improve the potential of the Camaro, Chevrolet is offering the performance-oriented 1LE package on the LS, LT, SS and ZL1 coupes, as laden with track-focused content specific to each Camaro model.
But none of these Camaro models compare to the all-new 2019 YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro as created by Specialty Vehicle Engineering (formerly SLP). The core of the all-new 2019 YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro is a 6.8-liter 416 C.I.D. supercharged LT-1-based engine that can deliver 1,000 hp of pure output. This version of the Camaro is derived from the Camaro 1SS 1LE or 2SS 1LE, as these 1LE models are well-equipped to balance the overwhelming power of the 6.8-liter supercharged LT1-based engine.
For instance, the three-piece mounted blade-style spoiler that comes with the 1LE package offer increased levels downforce (up to 300 lbs), helping keep the YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro keep its rear section planted and stable even when moving at high speeds. The levels of downforce are also kept high by the large front splitter.
Likewise, the Recaro Performance Seats included in the 1LE package will keep the occupants of the YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro firm in their position while the car makes full use of its power. The 1LE package also includes a suede-wrapped flat bottom steering wheel that the suede-wrapped shift knob, allowing for a more comfortable control.
Moreover, the 1LE package comes with Magnetic Ride Control that can precisely adjust the dampers for even steadier handling during an extreme drive. Aside from the Electronic Limited-Slip Differential with 3.73 ratio, the 1LE package also includes a Performance-Tuned suspension. Furthermore, the package comes with a heavy-duty cooling system that includes engine oil cooler, transmission cooler, rear differential cooler and dual outboard radiators.
This version of the Camaro can be ordered at a local Chevrolet dealer, but interested buyers need to be quick. Specialty Vehicle Engineering will only be building 25 examples of the YENKO/SC Stage II Camaro, each of which will be numbered. In addition, each example will come with a Manufacturer's certificate of origin.
