A. Kahn Design introduces Range Rover Sport Capital City Edition with red-and-white styling

Article by Christian A., on April 16, 2012

A Kahn Design introduces the uniquely styled Range Rover Sport Capital City edition, which features gleaming manifestations of white and red colors. This superb British design is aptly named considering that it would not seem out of place in Durban, London, Dubai or L.A. The vehicle is basically a 12-piece unit. It has passed the meticulous tests at Kahn Design H.Q.

The aerodynamic Kahn wide arch kit has features that represent increased technological sophistication such as side steps, front and back autobiography lips, matt pearl grey handles, red face insert, RS Kahn grille, matt pearl grey side vents, aluminum drilled pedals and Illuminated Kahn side sill plates.

The interior has features with a 'bespoke touch'. Specifically, the vehicle has RS leather interior in black with grey insert panels, door tops and instrumental binnacle, quilted glove box, yellow and blue speedo and rev counter, blue time clock with black Swarovski bezel, Kahn billet steering wheel finished with grey bottom and top sections. Aside from these, Afzal Kahn could provide tailored services to satisfy the preferences of customers.

An example of this is designing an automobile with an exterior color like the jeans and an interior with seats similar to the shade of a grey t-shirt. Moreover, customers can opt to change the color of the clock, among other things.

Exuding the essence of the automobile's identity are the Kahn wheels, which sit perfectly. The Kahn RS wheels are built with the use of innovative materials and manufacturing technology. They measure 10.5 x 22 and 9.5 x 22. They have simple clean lines, a purposeful mechanical center and soft organic surfaces on the spoke's edge. The wheels are both innovative and elegant.

For the 2012 model year, Land Rover made sure to upgrade the interior and the design of the exterior not only for the Range Rover Sport but also the Range Rover Autobiography Sport and the Range Rover Limited Edition. One of the upgrades done to the interior was on the infotainment system. For the 2012 Range Rover Sport, the Premium and Hi-ICE audio and infotainment have been upgraded with the inclusion of the MOST Gen 2.1 electrical platform. Under the Premium and Hi-Line systems, the DVD audio formats now support connectivity.

The same is true for the other features of the infotainment system like the Hard Disc Drive Music server. Video streaming and iPod streaming are possible through USB and even audio streaming is viable using Bluetooth. The Dual Turner meanwhile is able to deliver better seamless signal. Finally, in the console lid, two USB ports have been added increasing connectivity.

Entertainment on the rear is upgraded as well by making WhiteFire wireless technology available and by offering cordless headphones. Instead of the 9 speakers, the Hi-ICE Harman Kardon System now has 11 speakers. Its output has been increased as well to 380 W from 240 W. However, it is the Premium Harman Kardon LOGIC 7 system that has experienced the best upgrade.

The number of speakers has been increased to 17 from 14 with output now at 825 W from 480 W. In terms of upgrade on the design, the graphics on the rear tailgate of the Range Rover Sport has been modified to give it that unique look. Meanwhile, the grille surround and the headlight inners have been given the Glass Black treatment. For the S and the SE variants, the grille has a Dark Atlas though for the HSE, it makes use of a Light Atlas. Offered as an option for the Supercharged version are the alloy 20-inch wheels with a high-gloss lacquer and finished in Sparkle Silver.

This variant also has the Atlas for the grille surround. Meanwhile for the Limited Edition, it will have the five-spoke wheels in Gloss Black and have that Diamond Turned face. The interior has been upgraded with the addition of Ebony Morzine. The same is true for the interior of the Autobiography Sport. While the fender vents and the grille continue to have those color schemes, they have been somewhat modified for the 2012 model year. Subtly revised as well are the colors for the tow-eye and the bonnet badges. Even the door handles, and their body color, have been given the same treatment.
