The 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG is already an extreme SUV but Brabus wanted to take things even further and unveiled the B63. Powered by a 5.5-liter BiTurbo V8 engine, the Brabus B63 delviers 620 hp (456.3 kW) from standard 557 hp (410 kW). The output of the V8 engine was increased using the 620 PowerXtra module, which features new mapping for injection and ignition and provides a moderate increase in boost pressure.
Moreover, the torque was increased from 760 to 820 Nm (560 lb-ft to 604 lb-ft) and it is available on a plateau between 2,000 rpm and 5,000 rpm. As a result, the Brabus B63 zooms from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.7 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 280 km/h or 174 mph.
Due to the power increase, the Brabus B63 can be equipped with a high-performance brake system consisting of six-piston aluminum fixed calipers gripping vented and cross-drilled front discs measuring 405 x 34 millimeters (15.9 x 1.3 inches) on the front and 380 x 34 mm (15.0 x 1.3 inches) and four-piston fixed calipers on the rear. The brake discs are hidden behinf the Brabus Platinum Edition 23-inch high-tech forged wheels.
As an option, the B63 can be equipped with 21-inch Monoblock VI or F wheels, 22-inch Monoblock VI, E, Q and R cast wheels or Brabus Monoblock G "PLATINUM EDITION" forged wheels.
The Brabus control module for GL models with AIRMATIC air suspension is specifically calibrated to the sporty tire/wheel combination. Regarding the design, the Brabus Widestar body conversion for the new GL comes with fender flares front and back, new front bumper with large air inlets, side sills, a rear roof spoiler with integrated exhaust system and air diffuser. The interior was also upgraded and Brabus can customize it just like the customers asks.
