Brabus does the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

Article by Christian A., on October 9, 2012

Just like any other Mercedes-Benz model, the new CLS Shooting Brake stopped a little at the Brabus factory and we have to admit that the result is quite interesting. In terms of design, the new CLS Shooting Brake receives a new set of 20-inch Brabus wheels, a new front apron, side sills as well as a new rear bumper with integrated air diffuser and new stainless-steel quad sport exhaust system.

Moreover, the car also receives a new suspension module that lowers the ride height of cars equipped with the semi-active AIRMATIC air suspension system by about 35 millimeters. Because we are talking about Brabus, the most interesting things happened under the hood! As a result, the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY equipped with the ECO PowerXtra D4 performance kit got 22.8 kW / 31 hp and a maximum torque of 560 Nm (446 lb-ft).

The CLS 350 CDI using the Brabus Eco PowerXtra D6S kit received a power boost from 195 kW / 265 hp (261 bhp) to 230 kW / 313 hp (308 bhp) at a low 3,600 rpm and a maximum torque from 620 Nm to 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm.

With these numbers, the CLS 350 CDI sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.9 seconds, while the top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph). The CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY also received the Brabus B50 - 500 performance kit that boosts its power to 368 kW / 500 hp (493 bhp) and a peak torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft).

Moreover, the top speed is electronically limited at 300 km/h (186 mph). For the top-of-the-line CLS 63 AMG model, Brabus offers two ultra-powerful tuning options. The Brabus B63 – 620 kit offers 455 kW / 619 hp (610 bhp) of power at a low 5,500 rpms and a maximum torque of 1.000 Nm (663 to 737 lb-ft).

This model hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph). As an complement to the engine tuning, the German tuning company offers a sport exhaust system with butterfly valve for the CLS 63. At the push of a button on the steering wheel the driver can switch between a discrete and quiet "Coming Home" mode and "Sport,".

The interior of the car was also updated and according to the official press release the product lineup for the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake ranges from attractive accessories to custom-tailored interiors crafted from especially soft, breathable and highly durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.
