It’s not the first time Brabus upgrades the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG, but this time the German tuning company tried to make a unique model. Finished in sating gold exterior finish, the Brabus S63 AMG also received a carbon fiber front lip spoiler, new carbon fiber accents on the front fenders, new carbon fiber mirror caps, redesigned side sills, a trunk lid spoiler and a new carbon fiber air diffuser with integrated exhaust tailpipes.
The exterior design is completed by a new set of Brabus alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance tires. The interior was updated too and the same satin gold colour is found here, in combination with white leather. Under the hood, there is a 5.5-liter V12 engine that generates 850 hp (625 kW) at 5,400 rom and 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft) of torque between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm.
Unfortunately, Brabus didn’t release any details regarding the performances offered by the upgraded engine. Still, we do know that the standard vehicle is able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h or 155 mph.
The S63 4Matic Long wheelbase is even quicker as it hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds, while top speed limited at 155 mph or 250 km/h. The standard S63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine that generates 585 hp (430 kW) and 900 Nm of torque.
Dynamic and prestigious, as well as exclusive and powerful, these are words that best describe the new Mercedes-Benz SLS S63 AMG. However, this model also manages to make a strong impact when it comes to visuals. Defining the design of this high performance saloon is the excellent combination of classic architecture, the sleek profile having the classic AMG design features, and the signature Mercedes sensual forms.
The upright and large radiator grille has a unique three-dimensional feel and highlight just how special status of the brand’s S-Class. Serving as a contrast to the grille is the front apron and the three large cooling air intakes. The front apron has the grilles painted in high-gloss black. It also has the stylized “A” which is the signature of models coming from AMG. This also puts focus on the power and exclusivity of the S63 AMG.
Air deflectors, also called flics, come in high-gloss black. By putting them on the side air intakes, they allow the airflow to the cooling modules to be optimized. For motorsport enthusiasts, this particular design is likely one that is all too familiar. Helping lower the lift is the three-dimensional front splitter which comes in silver chrome. Meanwhile the side sill panels, in silver chrome as well, have three-dimensional insert which result in the model looking as if it is closer to the road.
This also allows for dynamism to be created on the sides along with the “Dropping Line,” a feature that one has come to expect from the brand. Another trademarked feature of AMG in this new model is the large light-alloy wheels which allow viewers to have an unimpeded view of the high-performance AMG braking system. The “V8 BITURBO” lettering meanwhile is new and has a more modern typography. By being placed on the front wings, it immediately distinguishes this eight-cylinder top-of-the-range model. New lettering can also be seen on the “S63 AMG” model designation placed on the boot lid.
Rounding off the design are the black diffuser insert that is trimmed in silver chrome along with the AMG sports exhaust system and its pair of chromed twin tailpipes with exhaust flaps. This new lettering also appears in the "S63 AMG" model designation on the boot lid. The design is drawn to a powerful conclusion by the black diffuser insert with trim in silver chrome and the two chromed twin tailpipes of the AMG sports exhaust system with exhaust flaps.
The interior of the S63 AMG is similar to the exterior in that it has that charming mix of the exclusive and sporty ambience of a genuine AMG model and many of the classic Mercedes qualities like, among others, aesthetics, appeal, better interior dimensions, ease of use, new ergonomic touches, new control logic, and safety. The interior is also where the newly developed AMG sports seats are placed.
Not only does it have memory function and electrical adjustment but it also provides more lateral support to the front passenger and seat heating for the driver. The backrests of the front seats are covered in fine nappa leather with the AMG V8 design having the AMG badges. This results in the interior having a luxurious and exquisite ambience.
Certain special touches were also implemented on the interior like the embossed emblem placed on the front center console’s armrest. Then there is the high-quality analogue clock revealing the exclusive IWC design and for the first time have metal appliqués on its dial while revealing the milled metal three-dimensional hands.
